I heard on one of Mike Parker's interviews a few weeks ago Tinkle indicating something to the effect of "we have a couple of good bigs we are working on". Always a good idea in my book.
I've got to admit, a key weakness on this year's team as I see it is at the point-guard position. The PG by committee that they used most of this year (Thompson, Manuel, Stacey, McLoughlin) didn't seem to work very well in terms of bringing the ball up under pressure or creating offense for others consistently. Thompson, Manuel, and McLoughlin (despite his being touted as a PG during recruiting - I don't see it yet) are all more of the SG type, and Stacey - well let's just say it is fairly obvious why he was still available so late in the recruiting year. Reichle and E. Thompson are also both SG types as near as I can tell.
Anybody have any names of possible recruiting targets to round out Tink's third recruiting class?

I found some possible answers to my question about possible recruiting targets in the Tribune's March 1 article: "OSU coaches are looking at a host of players, among them 6-10 Dequon Lake of Iowa Western JC and 6-8 (257 lb.) Bruce Stevens of Jones County (Mississippi) JC, 6-9 (205 lb) Alexis Yetna from Putnam (Connecticut) Science Academy (a prep school) and 7-foot (205 lb as a freshman) Kylor Kelley of Northwest Christian. Kelley, a native of Gervais, averaged 8.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.6 blocks in 10 games with the Beacons before becoming academically ineligible. His brother attends OSU."
- De'Quon Lake: (from Virgin Islands) 32 games/31 starts. Team-high 13.5 ppg. .676 fg, .612 ft, 0 3fg attempts, team-high 7.2 rpg, team-high 1.5 bpg.
- Bruce Stevens: 26 games/24 starts. Team-high 16.8 ppg. .540 fg, .394 3fg, .807 ft, team-high 11.9 rpg, team-high 2.2 bpg.
- Alexis Yetna: (from France) In the 19 games "Prepcircuit.com" documented: 11.4 ppg. There was no consistent tracking of shooting percentage numbers. In 18 games they reported 10.1 rpg.

Gervais is a small place. Did Mel Counts have daughters also? I'm trying to figure out the "Kelley" last name.

Yes to Stevens - at least he has a decent FT shooting % which seems harder and harder to come by. As for Kelley, he became academically ineligible??? Is he even going to qualify for entry?

They need to get a decision soon from Malcolm and also decide if wishing Stacey best in his future endeavors.

If we don't add a true point guard (not actually sure Duvivier even is) we're basically like a football team w/o a qb trying to recruit receivers and lineman

But, for those who ZR is a good recruit...not that he can't be a decent role player, but we do not need more wing types. He's a below to average D1 wing and in the mold we have plenty of. I'm hoping there is some super secret plan recruit we are not privy to as of now.

I just want kids that can play ball, and play it well within a team concept. If the level of athleticism is the same as who we have, but ZR can actually play the game of basketball (fundamentals and all) it will be an improvement.
