As near as I can figure, these are all of the Beavers who have played Spring Training games in Major League camps. And no, I didn't forget Stefen Romero (in Japan) and Cole Gillespie (Mexico).

Michael Conforto: 7 games, 2 HR, 3 RBI, .421 AVG. - .450 OBP - .789 SLG.
Jacoby Ellsbury: 4 games, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 SB, .333 AVG. - .500 OBP - .778 SLG.
Jace Fry: 0-0 0.00 ERA, 2 games/0 starts, 1.2 ip, 2 BB, 3 SO, .178 AVG.

Wow. Stephan went to Japan? M's tell him he is AAAA material? Were the M's out of options on him? Probably got a good raise by going over.
And look at D. Hayes. 7 RBI in 8 games
funny how these guys can be rising superstar and next they are minor league fodder

In otherwords, he had to make a mlb roster or bust. Reportedly signed for one million. Almost double what he was getting from the Mariners. Not sure what the Mariners thought about him. Scouts were split on him. Some thought he was a tweener. Others thought he needed at bats. He did change his approach at the plate over the last year. I think if he was given a chance with his new approach he would be able to stick in the majors. Not to saying he would be a superstar but a servicable player. Just my opinion but we will never know.

If stephan got a million (yen???) he did good. He is probably tired of the minors grind and low pay. Good for him
By way of reference how well does Mexico pay?

Correction..it was reported when he first signed that it was 1 million but I googled it again and the Japanese media reported that it was $850,000. Still a good chunk of change. Also, it didn't mention it was in yen. Article also said there were bonuses in the contract. So, he can make more than the $850,000 .

The yen thing was just me goofing. I'm imagining SR agent going through the negotiations, etc and missing the fact that it was in yen

The yen thing was just me goofing. I'm imagining SM agent going through the negotiations, etc and missing the fact that it was in yen LOL...I didn't know the exchange rate for the yen to dollar. 850,000 would be about 7,466 U.S. Dollars. Now that would be a discount contract for the Orix Buffaloes.

Now that would be a discount contract for the Orix Buffaloes. Hopefully, Romero is able to pull the Buffaloes out of the cellar. In 2004, the Orix BlueWave and the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes merged to create the Orix Buffaloes. The most well-known player for the BlueWave in the past 35 years was probably Ichiro Suzuki. The most well-known player for the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes during the same time period was probably Hideo Nomo. Eastern Asian professional teams are very peculiar. Orix is of course a intercontinental bank that owns a couple of airports. Orix is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, the largest bank in the world outside of China. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group is one of the three water chestnuts (often incorrectly called "diamonds") that make up the Mitsubishi Group logo. (Mitsubishi literally means three--"Mitsu"--water chesnuts.)
