These beavers are CLUTCH.
nice 5 second call against Gabby after 3 seconds.
Jordin Canada is GOOD. She rung up 27 but a big chunk were in 2Q when Hanson sat. During 4Q crunch time (before 4Q garbage time) Gabby had her locked down. Gabby is her kryptonite.

I'm thinking the interior D preventing a 2nd scorer was the difference here. We give the ball away 22 times... Canada has 27... the rest of the team D was the ball game. Canada had 10 pts in the 2nd qtr after Gabby went to the bench. She scored 2 pts in the 3rd qtr and had her 1st hoop in the 4th with 2:22 left in the game. Balance of her 2nd half points (all 8) while ucla was trying to stay in it. I would say Gabby's D in the 2nd half was a factor in turning the game in the Beavers favor. |

They got what, 15 points from the REST of their team after Canada and Burke... that's TEAM D... with the focus on shutting down any interior play. |

Agreed. Team D and rebounding won the day...again. As stated in the post game interviews, the feeling is if they hold teams under 60 pts, they have a good chance to win. Pee all you want.

But as physical as we play I think that ended up favoring OSU. No foul trouble for Bre (1), Kolbie (0) or Marie (0). |

Defense just ground UCLA down. Really solid win. Fundamentally impressive.

Is not right vs wrong... is opinion and I threw out facts supporting it. As for SR, what's he going to day, Gabby sucked. I never implied such either. It just wasnt one of her best overall games defensively. Again my opinion... based on Canada getting her into foul trouble to allow her to get started... scoring over HALF of her teams points... and the interior D allowing 3-21 shooting and 15 total points. Seems to me a classic case of not and outstanding job on one player yet shut everyone else down. Bigger key... IMHO... than Gabby's D contribution. But, then again the "discussion" must always go the way of Gabby's D was the key... I get it, she's the POY and I'm supposed to drink the koolaide. Sorry... when you hold a team to 20 points under they scoring and their interior does squat, including their All-Pac12 post... that's key to me... and not a disparaging comment about Gabby in the least... as some on here seem to be making it seem. |
