Pretty damned impressive.
Think how good we can be when Rasmussen returns.

Can't screw up his MLB career! He's done for the season. They noticed too many TJ repeats with a 15-month rehab and have focused on 18-months, especially for young pitchers. Let him heal. Imagine our staff NEXT year if he returns to form and Martinek fulfills his promise.

I also have heard that he's going to be allowed to heal all season, but there will be a lot of scouts watching his recovery. He will be draft eligible, and with one TJ under his belt. If I were in his shoes, I would be balancing coming back vs heading out - I don't know that another season in college would be in my book. We will have a stacked team again next year, so that is an incentive. If we make it to Omaha, a repeat attempt would be hard to resist.

He can come back if he chooses and won't lose a ton of money, or he can go to the draft if a team is willing to draft him and pay him based on his previous track record.

...a bit of reality today. Fehmel 7 hits and 3 runs in 5th inning. Bats quiet and fielding continues shaky. Next 4 innings will show how much fight this team has

Not to be Debbie Downer, but after today, the Beavs #2 starter has an ERA of 4.09 after 2 starts against sub-PAC 12 competition. It may be that Casey and Yetskie will have their work cut out to find 3 reliable starters. The good news is, is that there are a multitude of candidates.

It sure is a small sample, I agree. Fehmel's BA against of .326, against middle of the road teams, jumps out at first glance. Time will tell. On the other hand that same size sample is sure looking nice for Thompson - including this weekend where both Fehmel and Jake pitched against the same lineup, with radically different results.

In my opinion, you might be overvaluing what we'll see in Pac-12 hitting this year. Lineups we've seen so far are FOR SURE better than hole, WSU and Cal at a minimum. Utah, Stanford and UCLA are middling at best. UW will have bats and I think ASU, USC and UofA will be solid too but I think we've probably seen teams that are solid Pac-12 average type squads so far.....
