Well, we wanted to stay out of Day 1 play at the Pac-12 Tournament.
Mission accomplished - we will be one of the top four seeds.
That is not to say we won't be potentially facing a scary team, but at least we will be better positioned to make a run.....
Next mission - host the first two rounds of NCAA play.
To do that, we are going to have to stay in the top 16ish of the RPI.
We are currently #10.
Games remaining are at @colorado (#81), @utah (#52), Stanford (#11) and Cal (#67).
Not much margin for error, and the Mountain schools road trip scares me (Colorado is a young, USC-like talented team).
Need to take care of business and hopefully build more RPI resume with Stanford at home.....
Looking at the Pac-12 regular season title, it looks like Stanford might have the pole position (play Cal twice and the Oregon schools - would be good if they get swept up here and/or drop one to Cal).
UW has UCLA, USC, Colorado and Utah - hopefully they drop one or two of those.....
While ASU and UCLA have dropped a couple and are no longer conference champ contenders, Stanford and UW have taken care of business.
The home stretch will be fun!
Win out, and we will have the #1 Pac-12 seed and likely NCAA hosting privileges......
(To win out, we will need to get better about TOs, inbounding, and dealing with Sydn3y getting pressed/double/hedged).
(I saw an example of this tonight when [mens] West Virginia blew a 14 point lead on KU with 2:30 remaining due to TOs on inbounding and poor FTing)
Of course, lot of basketball to be played between now and then.
And recall, this team was tabbed to be fifth. Great coaching and players stepping up this season, regardless of how this plays out.
Go Beavs!!
