Their play-by-play guy was quite good describing the action, but his incessant whining about the fouls was horrible! I'm sorry to inform you Bill Walton has a trademark on the term horrible. Please send $5.00 to the Bill Walton fund Bill and I are tight. We hang out at the coast in our tie-dye. I get unlimited use of "horrible" gratis.

I know it is to be expected, but it's frustrating listening to the homer AZ audio whining about fouls. Beavers up 28-23. Wiese not shooting well. Yeah. The guy is seriously annoying! The way he tells it they'd be up by a dozen if the refs weren't calling non-existent fouls on them while letting us get away with using brass knuckles. Also tired of missing half of our possession every time they score because of replays and infographics on the player. Fine, show their picture/name/etc one, then don't do it again. Looking forward to opening it up after half.

I can't decide if the team was mentally moving on to their Super Bowl watch party, or AZ was that tough of an out.....
I will say that they were playing Sidney very tight, and were determined not to let her beat us. It was nice for Pivec and Tudor to come out of their funks a bit and add 12 points to the bottom line (as well as be aggressive and force AZ to react to them). Bre played very well, our other bigs, less so. That said, it may be that the AZ bigs match up well with ours....
We need to not go into the "lulls" that have become the hallmark of this team - other than the UCLA game, it has not come back to haunt us, but in every game there is a stretch where we could gain a ton of ground, and we tend not to do so and end up making games far more interesting than they deserve to be.
This also hurts us in the fact that some of our younger players are only getting to play a minute or two per game as opposed to, say, a large chunk of the 4th quarter (which is what I was expecting in the AZ game).
All of that aside, given how AZ was able to neutralize Sydney and deal with our bigs (again, all other factors aside), this is a team I hope gets knocked out before we see them in the Pac-12 tourney [although maybe that means they took out a larger threat in Day 1 play if we did end up facing off against them.....]. And I don't think we ever trailed AZ.
My bigger fear is experiencing a "lull" in the tournament against a quality team that could "pull a UCLA" on us.
Go Beavs!

We definitely need Kalmer, Tudor or McWilliams to get more time and step up when Syd is shut down. The bigs need help from the outside and all three of these ladies has shown the ability. So often our offense has people left open, but they are usually Gabby (who isn't afraid to shoot, but streaky) and Kolbie (who often seems to be on the periphery wide open, but unwilling to shoot). I think that is the key to overcoming the lulls. After seeing Colorado give UW a good game, I'm a little concerned about that one and the possibility meeting them again in the Tourney.

Scott will tell you that the hardest thing in coaching is getting your players to play with intensity when they are ahead against an inferior team. If you know a cure for that, Mr. Rueck would love to hear it.
