Using 247's composite to judge the rest of the conference's class quality, here's the top four.
(rank/size/team/avrg score) 1. (14)Stanford 92.44 2. (25)USC 91.63 3. (18)UW 88.36 4. (18)UCLA 88.17
Prediction for class, other than ours, we'll look back on 4 years from now and say where did they come from.
Utah
Landed the #1 rated safety by 247sports, 3rd best rated player overall in TX.
Stole Green from us who was named Arizona Cardinals’ High School All-Around Player of the Year
Beat out SC for Army AA corner Jaylon Johnson who held offers from just about everyone. Highest rated player in class.
They added other key defensive talent and stockpiled more big warriors on both sides of the trenches.
Then there is potential game changer in Texas dual-threat QB Jason Shelley. Received a Clemson offer after his freshman season and ranks 12th nationally by 247sports. If he pans out, Utah may have found their ticket to get over the hump.

Utah's class is real nice. And I hate their bell curve for class overalls. I also go by the average they list. If you go by the star average we have the 9th instead of 11th class, which just looks better. It also sucks you can't sort by the star average. Which is the biggest downside to 247's site.

As I have said else where using a normal descending order ranking is kind of silly with these things, grouping them is the more logical approach. So I would group the pac-12 recruiting like this: Elite Recruiting:USC -- they are in a class by themselves in the Pac - 12 Great Recruiting:UCLA UW Stanford and I hate to say it.... *ucks The Middle Class Recruiting:Colorado ASU OSU UA Utah Poor Recruiting:Cal -- mostly due to the very poorly timed coach firing and underwhelming hire... In terms of ranking them within those groups... That's a fool errand and practically impossible. I am impressed by Utah's class as well, but I wouldn't say it is heads and shoulders better than ours. IMHO their best get was the #1 OLB in Marquise Blair. But I wouldn't trade ANY of their recruits for Craig Evans, our #1 recruit. At this point it will be fit to system, coaching, and of course health and actually making it into school that will determine the rankings within the groups. If Utah loses two of their 4 stars to academics (like we did last year) their class all of a sudden doesn't look so great

Great Recruiting:and I hate to say it.... *ucks Poor Recruiting:Cal -- mostly due to the very poorly timed coach firing and underwhelming hire... Yup, I am quoting myself... get over it I won't go so far as to say their was cheating involved... But I find the fates of TSDTR recruiting and the CAL recruiting to be an interesting dichotomy... Their situations are very similar. A very poor for them season, a coaching staff fired in the heat of the recruiting season, and underwhelming a hire there after, yet while Cal fell a group down (the have been solidly in Middle class recruiting before this year, and even a couple years in the great) the *ucks stayed steady and maybe even slightly improved! Especially the last few flips to them seem... unusual. I guess benefit of the doubt has to say that "We call him Will" Taggart is really just THAT great of a recruiter, Tip of the hat to you, Will.

Whether we like it or not (and I f*cking hate it), 18 year old kids only know tsdtr as a national power. They've watched them dominate for a decade and have a much different view of the program than you and I. Cal has rarely had the national prominence or exposure over the last decade. I hate standing up for them but the situations are completely different between UO and Cal. I'm not surprised by Taggarts recruiting success, I also wouldn't be surprised if they got caught committing NCAA violations. But to assume they're cheating because they had success this year is a stretch.

My question is how long can Coach Mora hold on to his job recruiting like that and not having more Wins ?
Seems like the same old story for UCLA....

Let's hope forever... people will argue, but the same goes for the Buffs. This past year was an anomaly... IMHO... but, will keep Crazy Mac there for another 4 years at least. Unfortunately they're both in the south. So... hoping "tagline" and former uck will fall on their faces at whoregon and cal in the north.

I am really starting to hate Utah. But credit to them, Whittingham should probably be coaching at a top 10 program.
UCLA, doing less with more. How does Mora even have a job, he's awful. Graham's red ass attitude might be wearing on the kids, and Richrod runs a system that everybody has emulated and figured out. His days are numbered.
I could see 3 new Pac 12 coaches next year, maybe more if Whit ever decides to pursue a big time job.

maybe more if Whit ever decides to pursue a big time job. Why would he??? He has a comfortable and tenured position, the expectations are never overly high, he has moderate to great success every year and he is in the Pac-12... He IS in a big time job, unless you consider big time to only be Bama, tOSU and Florida State?

He IS in a big time job, unless you consider big time to only be Bama, tOSU and Florida State? No doubt. He may not for the reasons you mentioned, he is set for life. But Utah is a big time job relative to what...San Diego State? Whit has never won the Pac 12. He's never finished in the Top 15 since joining the Pac 12. As far as I know he's never had a top 20 recruiting class, maybe he has I'm not going to look. He's paid 3.3M per year, certainly nothing to sneeze at, but nowhere near the $5M other coaches of his caliber make, if you consider Hugh Freeze, Gus Mahlzan, Kevin Sumlin to be his caliber. He has turned down some pretty big gigs, so maybe he is content at Utah. Or maybe he wants to prove he can win the Pac 12 at Utah before moving up to a bigger stage. IMO Whittingham is one of the 10 best coaches in the country, maybe top 5 (let him go coach Florida State and he'll put Jimbo Fisher to shame). I also think he has all the earmarks of being a great NFL head coach too.

He gets to live in Utah, where $3.3M lets you live like a king, summers are lovely, and the fan base is passionate but not bats**t crazy. I'd say that's a top 20 job, maybe even a top 10 if you have a family.
But he's where Mike Riley was: highly respected, but not a hot commodity. If he ever moves on, it will be to a school with big problems that is willing to pay any amount for a clean-up job and has the potential to win a championship. I'm thinking of something like another Penn State situation.

He does lose a lot of senior talent, but also returns a sturdy core, and has been there several seasons now and should have his "machine" running. 8 wins or a bowl has to be the minimum expectation there or I might agree and call 2016 a Colorado anomaly. That bowl game was not a great showing...
