ASU is ranked number 23 and is 14-7 overall and 5-5 in conference. If OS had that identical record who out there thinks they would be ranked? I know ASU has played some tough games but I don't think OS would be ranked with an identical record. Just my opinion.

Interesting question but I'll go out on a limb and say it may be quite a long while, maybe never, before a Scott Rueck team is .500 in conference 1/2-3/4 of the way through conference play (wherever we are in conference play). As long as SR is our coach I just don't see us being that mediocre, barring some terrible barrage of injuries that decimates our squad or something freak like that. He's that good. I believe, and I'm not the first on here to say this, that Scott Rueck is going to go down as a Hall of Fame coach with many, many, many wins. I really believe he's that level of coach. Thank God he's a Beaver!!

Considering that we can't seem to jump Uw or Stanford with an equal or better record, head to head win, and higher rpi.....no

The voters know the top 5 or so teams pretty well - they may even have seen a couple games. They have a rough idea of the next ten or so - they catch the headlines and read a couple stories on them. After that, they don't have clue. There are about 30 teams that can make a case for one of those #16-25 spots, and the only way the voters have to rank them is to look at last weeks rankings and adjust them for this week's scores. ASU was #15, they lost at UCLA (can't fault them for that) and at USC (well, it's a road loss), so the typical voter says, "I'll knock them down six or eight spots."

I am not sure I can buy this "we are still a national unknown" thing. After all, we did make it to the Final Four last year, and give UConn the best game of the tourney. I think a lot of people are feeling like we are playing a bit over our heads after losing so much talent, and that we are going to come back to earth here on the back end of our schedule. This is not to say they don't think we deserve our current ranking, but we still have something to prove to them, especially since we face furd and the ruins, albeit at home. I think they are underestimating us, but then again, the orange tint to my lenses might have a bit to do with that.

There is a chance that we will meet one or both of them in the PAC-12 tourney at the end of the year.
