Yes, they do love Plum. Sadly, there is no story here in Corvallis for East Coast voter to remember us for. You could see this during ESPNU's broadcast of the Civil War. They had graphics prepared for ONE Beaver (Syd, of course), and repeatedly gushed about Ionescul, Hebert, and McGwire (for which they had graphics prepared). At one point, when we gave Syd a rest, the ESPN announcer even said, "I see Gabby Hanson as a zero for scoring. I don't know where they are going to get points now." As if Syd was the only gal on our team that can get a shot off.
Now, these announcers aren't bad people. They just didn't have a clue how to prepare. They went in ready to talk about the Oregon story - "downtrodden team revitalized by a great recruiting class". They didn't have a story for OSU other than, "Sydney Wiese sure can shoot the three." The real story here - that overachieving 2016 team was deeper than anyone realized - doesn't fit on a single infographic or make a decent headline on espn.com. So no one talks about us or writes about us.
So the East Coast voter looks at his ballot and sees Stanford - "They're always good" - and UW - "That Plum girl sure can score and they have that big girl with the funny shot" - and put them up there. They look at OSU and see, "So they beat a 14-win team home-and-home this week. Games were close. No sense putting them any higher."
The voters will forget UW the moment Plum is gone. If Sabrina continues to churn out triple-doubles, expect the UO to be consistently overrated. But it will take years of success to get to where Stanford is, where we get votes just for being OSU. Until then, SR's brand of team-oriented, precision basketball will always be underrated in the polls.

I hear what you're saying and you're probably right but I would think that 2 straight Pac-12 championships, several trips to the Dance, and a Final Four run last year and a top 12 ranked team this year would be enough to keep us on the radar of basketball coaches on the east coast. I don't think Rueck is an unknown in the NCAA women's basketball world either. But, I'm a Beaver fan so what do I know, right?!
