Cheers, Beavers! Go Cardinal, for today! GO BEAVS!! Agreed - Go Tree!
Kinda wish we had another game against UW. They are good but I think we match up well against their strengths.

This has nothing to do with anything, but did Lexi Bando's jersey get left in the dryer on high last night? I haven't seen a jersey that tight or shorts that form fitting since Stockton retired. Some girls like showing a little skin. I've got nothing against it.
I remember the Australian Women's National teams used to wear form-fitting unitards

I didn't watch this game but looking at the box scores and listening to what is being posted on here makes me a little concerned that we're getting out-recruited by the ducks and Graves. Pivec with 0 points for the weekend and Iounescu with 21 today and teens on Friday I think shows she's the more ready player right now. I know many will counter stating that she's a "me" player and yadda, yadda, yadda but, c'mon, she'll well outplayed Pivec this weekend. I think that's hard to argue. And looking to next year who will be our go-to scorer. Last year it was Jaime, this year it's Syd, but who next year. Again, I wanted to DOMINATE the ducks, not just barely beat them. They played us real tough this weekend and they have a lot of talent in the wings. Like him or not, Graves is a good coach and somehow they're recruiting lights out down there so we need to step up our recruiting to keep our edge. Go Beavs!! Dowg...Take it from a fellow worrier; TRY to enjoy this without any reservation! Ionescu's role for "hole" is MUCH different than is Pivec's. If Pivec or Tudor had the green light to shoot like she does...you could expect similar numbers. Don't worry...be happy!!

LET them "recruit the lights out". So is Rueck!! A 5* and a 4* coming in next year, both from the Northwest. And this years freshman class will be insanely good as Juniors & Seniors. Pivec had an off weekend, but her athleticism, instincts, and pure physical ability are off the charts. Reminds me of the Baseball scenario. Horton gets these acclaimed pitchers to enroll, but then come the to-be-expected injury bugs...(and the fact that the Ducks can't hit), and they're still no closer to Omaha than they were years ago. Meanwhile Casey assembles a crew of multi-skilled players, and with the exception of last years selection committee royal screw-job, are in position each year to make some noise in the field of 64.

It's really interesting how so many on here instantly go to attacks on people's opinions/comments/concerns or sarcasm. Too bad, really. Doesn't need to be that way. I'm sure you'd of loved a Beaver blow-out too, squonk. Just sharing some concerns with what is happening down south and wanting to keep our edge. Dowg, I wouldn't call it an "instant" attack on you. You were one of the MOST negative posters on pure-orange, and it seems you haven't changed your tune on this site, either. We just beat the *ucks for the umpteenth time in a row DESPITE them playing in an NBA-level arena with NBA-level $$ owner backing them. If THAT isn't good enough for you, you are beyond help. I don't feel like getting in a pissing match with you, Kersting13, however, your response confirms my point because you couldn't help but take a jab, citing this quote from you, "If THAT isn't good enough for you, you are beyond help." I will try to clarify with the following explanation. Because I enjoy our women's bball dominance and think Rueck is the biggest badass coach at OSU I don't like the idea of UO improving their program and impinging on that dominance. I guess I'm tired of being UO's whipping boy for so long in football and basketball. So I've become a HUGE OSU women's basketball fan, not just because they win but where they were when Rueck took over and not just because they win but they dominate and have become arguably the best women's bball program in the Pac-12 and one of the top in the country. CONSISTENTLY. Now, I think it's hard to argue that Graves has improved UO's program as well, he's getting a lot of top talent and they're winning more and more every year. They are getting better, and, in my observation and opinion, seem to be trending up. They damn near beat us on Friday and at home we didn't blow them away either, in fact UO was up after a couple quarters if I read correctly. In the past these games weren't even close, we were beating them by 20-30 every game no matter where it was played. As we witnessed, this year was quite different. So, again, it appears that the games are getting much much closer. This is likely due to the significant increase in talent Graves has collected and seems to be continuing to collect and he's probably a decent coach despite possibly being a douche and having a douche assistant. So, again, it seems that these games are only going to get tougher from here on out. I don't like the idea of us slipping up in one of these games and losing one because I enjoy dominating them. If me enjoying this dominance and wanting it to continue and being concerned that UO is improving makes me "beyond help" then I guess we don't have to be buddies, Kersting. Good thing for grace, my friend, otherwise I'd apparently be a lost soul, by your estimation.
Have a beer, kersting, were both Beaver fans!!

Have a beer, kersting, were both Beaver fans!! Ha! I Agree with both of you. I don't like what Graves is building down there, and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend sweep!! The Ducks are much improved this year, and that makes the sweep even better.

Have a beer, kersting, were both Beaver fans!! I'm not here to get into a pissing match with you, either, but it just seems silly that you would get so defensive for being called out for being negative when it has been your M.O. for as long as you've posted on these boards. We have dominated the sh!t out of hole for YEARS, and Rueck has been recruiting the sh!t out of women's basketball. He's built a pretty damn good program here to the point it really doesn't matter what hole does. We are currently a national power in women's hoops.

Others have chimed in about this post, but I'd like to comment. If the roles were reversed; Pivec to UO and SI to OSU: - Pivec would be counted on to lead and score much more. - SI would be more of a role player at OSU. And to say that one outplayed the other is way too simplistic. This is a team sport, not one on one. The only way you could make this statement is if they both guarded each other for the entire game. And even then, you'd have to look at other variables like assists, rebounds, and some non-quantitative measurements like help D and hustle.

I think that most Beaver fans really get sick of the media love fest for hole, their win at all costs approach and the on court/field success that they have enjoyed of late. I remember when Beaver men's hoops was dominant for a decade + in the late '70's/entire 80's. At one point the Beavs won 23 of 25 contests over the yucks. When they appeared to be closing the gap as Payton was leaving and Terrell Brandon emerging, it just killed me. What was interesting was that several of the games in that stretch of dominance were decided by a couple of possessions. Knight hadn't totally sold his soul for hole athletic success yet, but the recruiting was far more equal between the two schools than made any sense on paper. We kept winning because our coaching, mental toughness, cohesiveness and tradition won the day. I see a close parallel with our women's programs right now. As I've said before, with all of the resources and lack of character that hole brings to the table, they will catch the eye of some top talent. Graves IS a real good coach, and they are chasing us with the Beavs being their meaduring stick for progress. As much as I hate it, I believe that we will lose to them sometime in the next couple of years. When it happens, I'll be bummed, but I know it's inevitable - less a reflection of us and more the result of hole running off lesser talent and promising the moon to better talent. Both schools recruited top 15 classes last year, and both will do the same this year. Hole will pursue anyone, but Scott will go after the young women that he feels fit best in our culture. Our current players help in screening who fits our philosophy and system. Sabrina is a great prospect, but she really would be a stretch in fitting with our program. I'm not even saying that she wouldn't have worked out here. I just love that Scott knows who he is and our program has a clear identity. No shortcuts or short-term gratification at the expense of lasting excellence. Graves brought in 7 or 8 accomplished freshmen last spring, and many of us wondered what he promised and how they'd find enough basketballs for everyone. I believe that one of those women has already transferred, and with the exception of one or two others, it's kinda like "Sabrina and the Pips". She's been given the keys to the car, which was what she wanted. I don't really care how well hole recruits, because nobody outside of UConn is faring much stronger than SR is. Let 'em try to buy success in Spewgene. As long as Rueck is our coach, we're not going anywhere, and the success of anyone else in the big picture just doesn't matter. Don't get me wrong, I love to dominate our sleepy rival, but mostly I just love Beaver success at a high level. Much like baseball, that's privilege that we are beginning to expect in Women's hoops...and it's SWEET!

As I've said before, with all of the resources and lack of character that hole brings to the table, they will catch the eye of some top talent. I see where you're coming from, but could you elaborate a little on how lack of character attracts top talent? Is it just assumed that top talent has questionable morals and is only playing basketball for the bling (which makes less sense for a women's player - the top salary in the WNBA was $107k in 2015.) Also, I'm not really up to date on the whole Ionescu incident - did we offer her a scholarship? If so, did she just become the glory hungry, Carmelo Anthony type player after visiting UO? Did they tap into some previously unknown side of her pscyhe that craves fancy locker rooms and constant adulation? Or was that always there? Did we offer her a scholarship regardless of these warning signs, which goes against everything I've ever heard about Scott Rueck's recruiting philosophy? Or did we offer, then quietly rescind the scholarship once we learned what a selfish little monster she was? I'm all for healthy rivalries and jabbing the other guy when they make a mistake or do something stupid, but this toxic "I won't even write the name of the school and change the name of everyone associated it to some sophomoric nickname "Cryalotti, Skip Belly, Willie Braggart, etc.) has got to stop. I fear for the health and well-being of our fan base as we age and with every success "The School Down the Road" has.

I won't pretend to know any inside info on Ionescu's recruiting. I'm just going off of what I've read online and heard on this board but to my knowledge Rueck was recruiting SI just as hard as anyone else. I never read anywhere that his interest dropped off at any point. Unfortunately, I think it was just a matter of SI picking the ducks over us, plain and simple. I'm not sure Rueck could of done anything about it. I also don't agree with the notion that SI is such a "me" player. If she was she wouldn't have 3 triple doubles already. It's not like she's dropping 30-40 points a game. But she is filling up an all-around stat board with rebounds and assists and to me that does NOT scream "me". I believe Rueck would of loved to have her sign with us and he would of put her to great use. But, that's not what happened and I do trust SR to get what he needs to be as successful as he's always been.
Go Beavs!

No, my observation has nothing to do with thinking that top talent has a particular level of moral integrity. What I see is that top talent likes bling and big promises. Hole has been known to say or do whatever it takes to lure people. They have the green light to prioritize that over doing things in a decent manner. Having talked with recruits who were courted by them, I'm confident that they would promise every recruit the moon. Again, having had conversations with people around the program, I picked up that there was a mutual parting of ways - not like either SI or SR stated that specifically, just making a decision that this wasn't the right fit. One thing Rueck will do is speak truth to people, and unlike many programs, including hole, he has a conscience that won't resort to sleaze and half-truths to lure players. If you play for the Beavs, it's because you're wanted, and you want to be there!
