Wow. I'm really sorry ESPN, but Oregon State is actually better than the ucks in Women's hoops. Attendance 6,005. The Beaver State.

I've got a rules question. How close does Ionescue come to carrying the ball everytime on her hesitation dribble? Seems to me her hand comes down pretty low on the ball. Is that just something that they are letting players get away with now?

Syd's crossover dribble, stepback threes are outstanding - she's just on another level out there.

I didn't watch this game but looking at the box scores and listening to what is being posted on here makes me a little concerned that we're getting out-recruited by the ducks and Graves. Pivec with 0 points for the weekend and Iounescu with 21 today and teens on Friday I think shows she's the more ready player right now. I know many will counter stating that she's a "me" player and yadda, yadda, yadda but, c'mon, she'll well outplayed Pivec this weekend. I think that's hard to argue. And looking to next year who will be our go-to scorer. Last year it was Jaime, this year it's Syd, but who next year. Again, I wanted to DOMINATE the ducks, not just barely beat them. They played us real tough this weekend and they have a lot of talent in the wings. Like him or not, Graves is a good coach and somehow they're recruiting lights out down there so we need to step up our recruiting to keep our edge.
Go Beavs!!

Sorry they didn't win by enough for you. Good thing you didn't watch the game. You probably wouldn't have enjoyed it since you seem to only appreciate blow out wins. We've got a great recruiting class coming in. The future is very bright for OSU WBB. ENJOY IT! pac-12.com/womens-basketball/standings

Yes, they do let players get away with it.

Everyone wants to knock off the king of the mountain. There is no easy games for the Beavers. Have to bring it every time they take the floor. oregon was motivated by the losing streak plus they are a lot better than last year.

It was pretty obvious that the best player on the court was Syd... But the second best player on the court was Sabrina... Of course the game was pretty close, but the Beavers supporting guards played one of their worst games of the season and the ducks team played pretty flawlessly, at one point in the FOURTH quarter Sabrina had yet to miss a shot (at least by my recollection).
I think what really did the *ucks in though was Graves playing Sabrina the ENTIRE game... clutch time came and she clanked two threes and a FT, while a more rested Syd TOOK OVER and totally dominated.
Sabrina got what she wanted... she IS the ducks, as she goes so their team will go, she will need to be like Plum and score 30+ a game for them to win consistently in the Pac-12. Meanwhile, the beavs just keeping getting great TEAM ORIENTED talent, and will continue to be tops in the Pac-12... GO BEAVS!
Also, the crowd was AWESOME! Deafening when the beavs were on defense the last five minutes!

Next year the scoring load has the potential to be very well distributed. There will be 6 returning players who have seen significant minutes this season. Any of the six is capable of double-digit scoring.
The two true freshman have shown flashes...as well as expected inconsistency. Don't' forgot, that despite this weekend, Pivec has twice been PAC 12 Freshman of the week. Tudor can absolutely fill it up (granted inconsistent). Don't forget Madison Washington.
Returning 2 to 3 year veterans like Brown, Gulich, McWilliams and Kalmer will make their mark. The two inside 'bigs', as seniors will be at the peak of their college careers.
As far as recruiting (especially any notion about being "out-recruited" by UO)...I think that incoming players Aleah Goodman and Taya Corosdale (both ranked in top 70 nationally) pretty much answer any doubts about Rueck's recruiting prowess; especially in the Pacific Northwest.

Yup Pivic had a down weekend, but she didn't pout or grouse, just kept cheering for her teammates and stayed for well over an hour signing autographs and taking pics. Great attitude, she will be our next big star. And watch out for McWilliams, not a great stat line today, but she is coming into her own. Running the offense, tall lanky defender, and she can stroke the thee!

I honestly enjoy the closer games against worthy opponents. Oregon WBB doesn't suck any more, that shouldn't surprise anyone. Currently though they are 6th in the Pac-12 at 4-6 and an NCAA bubble team at best. And I'll be curious to see how much wind this weekend takes out of their sails moving forward.
In the words of Bill Schonely "Nobody said this was going to be easy".
Is calling someone's post "strange" an attack? I didn't intend it that way.

Late to the party, but my observations: Syd completely took over that game down the stretch. She quite literally refused to have a loss to Oregon on her resume. I get what beavdowg is saying - Oregon got a ton from their freshman class. Was pretty impressed with the post for Oregon. Had she not picked up the early fouls, her free throw line jumpers were giving us fits early on. The flip sis of course is that Oregon NEEDS those performances and minutes from their freshman class to be competitive, whereas OSU was able to rely on veteran leadership. Good point made above about Ionescu not hitting anything in the closing minutes. Maybe it was fatigue, maybe it was mental toughness and not being in a lot of late game situations down a couple points on the road to a rival, but Syd's been around the block and she closed out that game as you'd expect a senior all American to do. This has nothing to do with anything, but did Lexi Bando's jersey get left in the dryer on high last night? I haven't seen a jersey that tight or shorts that form fitting since Stockton retired.

Dowg, I wouldn't call it an "instant" attack on you. You were one of the MOST negative posters on pure-orange, and it seems you haven't changed your tune on this site, either. We just beat the *ucks for the umpteenth time in a row DESPITE them playing in an NBA-level arena with NBA-level $$ owner backing them. If THAT isn't good enough for you, you are beyond help.
