I find his film highlights quite interesting. I also find the lack of info and recruiting offers on him interesting for a kid that averaged about 10 YPC, is credited with a 4.37 40, was RB MVP at the Houston showcase, is a member of his student council and such. Sounds like potentially a good get.

Kid definitely has speed. I like that his highlight reel starts with him breaking tackles and making a solid gain rather than they typical run through a semi-sized hole and not get touched while speeding by 8 slow undersized kids who will never play football again.

That was the one thing I noticed. So many of the fast kids hit an open hole and are gone, he had a bunch of runs where he had to pick an angle to squeeze through converging defenders, a couple others where he was hit and still outran everyone, and play number three with that hurdle that went all the way wasn't too shabby either.

Lokks good vs 4A Texas talent. But, would guess a "hopeful project" that ciaches can utilize his speed.
Not sure what type of players were at the Summit/camp he was MVP but he's not a top 150 type RB... if you believe the ranking BS.
Just don't see how he fits since a much better recruit in Paul Lucas was never really utilized?!
Looking at Pac12 RB recruits we are definitely on the back end looking up. Even the teams we need to gain a foothold against... ASU, Zona, Cal, Buffs, Utah...again that's according to those recruiting gurus.

RB is not a position I fret much over when it comes to recruiting rankings. Sure I'd like to have the superstar 230 lb 4 star who runs a 4.3 40. But if a kid can hit the hole and not turn the ball over, he's going to do OK if the O-line does its part. Helps if he can catch the rock. Gaskin was 3*, Williams was a JC Transfer, Lindsay was a 2*, Nall was 3* TE or FB or OLB, was he even recruited as a RB?. That's 4 of the top RBs in the Pac 12 last year.

I typically follow the "offer list" more than I follow stars. However, with the thousands of players across the country, against multiple divisions, how can these so-called "experts" accurately scout each individual player? Sure, kids from large, well-established programs will get a lot of attention, but there are plenty of talented of players who won't get recognition. I'd like to think that BJ is a case of being in a smaller division in Texas, and simply got over-looked since everyone else was scouting the 6A and 5A players.
The main reason I enjoy recruiting, is that regardless of the star rating and offer sheets, only time will tell how a player is able to progress. I like being familiar with the recruits, it makes it fun when they earn a starting spot.

While no rankings are perfect, a consensus is a little better. But we all know recruiting is a crap shoot and is more about exposure or kids going to camps. Rather than these experts watching film on every player.

The NFL spends millions on scouting and while they do a relatively good job of determining the top players, the first round is still half-full of NFL busts each year.

Exactly, it's crazy how many undrafted players end up in the league. You would think after years and years of scouting, that they would start changing different ways of evaluating players, but nope they don't, lol.
