Wow, this guy is just in LOVE with himself. This game may be played by the players but it's really all about Mark Campbell - just ask him.

Surprised he was not personally tapped to unveil the Final Four Banner. Seems like he was the secret ingredient that made last year's team.

All I can say is:
Contrast his approach with that of Mike Riley - he turned down going to USC as the HC in part because he thought it would be low class move to coach against OSU kids he recruited. But it is obvious Riley has more class in his fingernail clippings than this character.

Kind of depressing even if it was highly egotistical. I would be interested in knowing what the real reason was for him leaving. If he is so "fantastic" why isn't he a head coach? If we did recruit these girls why didn't we get them? I think Ionescu had a brother that was a walk-on there. I am surprised that if he recruited these girls why they would choose the ucks, who didn't make it to the playoffs over us that have been very successful winning the league, the PAC 12 tournament and a final 4 team.

I've said before, and will again. Campbell is a first-class tool. Look up "wolf in sheep's clothing" and you'll see his mug. I learned of things he said and did to try to flip recruits when he moved to uckville from people close to the prospects. Despicable...and to treat a guy like Rueck the way he has since moving on demonstrates low character and integrity. He apparently talks a good game, and as president and only member of the "Mark Campbell Fan Club", he is quick to let people know how amazing he is. As demonstrated by his ability to make it seem that he was the catalyst for assembling our final four personnel, he seems more ubiquitous than Forrest Gump. Some people are just delusional. Guy is a snake, and will do anything (and I do mean anything) to get what he wants. Hole is a perfect place for him. I don't care how well he might recruit, we are so much better off without him. Rueck has too much class to say it, but this guy doesn't match with the values and mission of our program, and it wouldn't surprise if a big part of Scotty sincerely felt it was a "don't let the door hit you on the way out" situation when he flipped!

Ionescu's brother was offered a walk-on slot, but for some (unknown) reason ended up at some directional/juco school, if I recall right. But it was true for a time when it likely mattered. We were in the final running for the guard from overseas and Ionescu, and I don't know about what the fact that all of the other recruits mentioned "visited" Corvallis means in terms of the recruiting process. Reasons recruits went there could range from majors offered, fit, attractions in the community/school/area, playing time, relationships formed with other teammates and/or potential teammates (there were multiple video clips of the entire 'uck team going and hugging Ionescu after games during her multiple visits to the valley, so the relationship was definitely there) and the coaches, and what ever other random reasons a teenager might have for making a choice..... (Having two teenagers on hand as we speak, I will tell you that last category is very vast and random and often without much rhyme or reason). There are probably other aspects, that no one will talk about - including what sort of information one program presents comparing itself to another. I too would love to know more about the real reasons for him leaving, and all that talent landing at uo. I remind myself that "correlation does not imply causation", so Campbell's presence there or here doesn't imply he is the reason. I also am surprised given the tone of the article that he didn't somehow claim credit for Westbrook landing at Tennessee, and Pivec landing here despite his departure......this article just gives me one more reason to root for the Beavers, and against the 'ucks, not that I needed more..... Go Beavs!

Some girls like "sparkly things". Isn't that the truth?! I've no doubt that Graves will build a strong program. Hole has shown that there is virtually no sport that they will allow to be remotely mediocre for more than a year. They'll do whatever it takes to grab attention and be a success, even if it flies in the face of morality. Graves is a proven good coach (somewhat like Whoreton, minus the national rep over time), and with their resources they will bring in talent. On the flip side, that place has also developed a rep as soft, glitzy and lacking in substance. This will continue. In many ways to the detriment of OSU in the day to day, but also to our joy in the big picture. They have a way of imploding down there, and it's always sweet to see your rival look bad!

Apparently U conn will be playing in Eugene next season. UCONN HEAD COACH AURIEMMA “I am already looking forward to competing in the Phil Knight Invitational out in Oregon next November. Eugene is a beautiful town and Matt Knight Arena is one of the most impressive facilities that I have ever set foot in. It will be a great experience for us to play a quality opponent like Michigan State so far from home in what will surely be a first class event. What better way to celebrate Phil Knight’s 80th then to host a competitive event in his name?”

Well, according to wikipedia, UConn is a Nike school: "UConn's Husky logo underwent a significant redesign, with the new design unveiled in April 2013. The updated logo, designed by Nike, has appeared on all athletic uniforms since the fall 2013 season." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_ConnecticutAs a result, Geno is probably contractually obligated to be a Nike shill. A Phil Shill? If not, he sure plays the part well. Note the definition of shill is "an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others". Hmmm, the shoe sure fits. Go Beavs!
