I went to South Albany to watch an awesome event - The Rebels special needs kids playing the Spartans special needs kids between the JV and varsity games. It was such a cool deal, with the South Albany students cheering for not only their classmates, but for the Corvallis kids as well.
My son-in-law teaches and coaches at SA, and I was proud of him and all of the kids out there, but I was really impressed when I noticed that future Beav Katie Mayhew was playing with the kids. Not only was she fantastic with the SA players, she was wonderful with the Corvallis kids too.
She definitely carries herself like a Rueck recruit does. Not only highly-skilled, but just a top-notch young woman. Scottie has created something special, and he's doing it the right way - high character women who understand that life is not just aboutthem. Couldn't help but smile!

Can't find anything on her other than the GT article. You have 2018 recruiting links?

Glad to see good citizenship on part of incoming commits. I am really curious to see how Mayhue develops over time - this is one of the earliest offers where we have a commitment, so we can see how SR does on talent-spotting. Hopefully Mayhue starts showing up in HoopGurlz lists and what not, but I don't know if her early (solid) commitment makes her more or less interesting to those sorts of lists.......
And as to the 5'9", she is only a junior, so maybe some more growth there. Hopefully she is jitterbug quick!
Go Beavs!

Being from Wyoming, it would'nt be surprising for her to be "under the radar". Researching AAU teams in Wyoming, it was unclear if there are any there for girls. Natrona county is the second most populous county in the state and is in their top classification (4A), but it seems it would be a tough place to get noticed nationally. From what I've read it sounds like she has a lot of the qualities SR looks for ...character, leadership, high energy, great personality. Other than her size, she seems a lot like Syd.

More on the Robbi Ryan that Mayhue contained as a sophomore (from the ASU site): As a senior in 2016, was named the Casper Star-Tribune’s Girls Basketball Player of Year after averaging a state-high 21.8 points per game. Would go on to be named the 2016 Winter Sports Female Athlete of the Year by The Sheridan Press and the 2016 recipient of the Milward Simpson award, given to the best overall high school athlete of each graduating class. Scored a career-high and school record 50 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 70-68 double-overtime loss to eventual state champion Gillette Robbi starting for ASU says something also. The Mayhue story is just really intriguing - moving from Casper to Albany so that your kid could commit to the school she fell in love with is really cool, and I hope the story can be told in years to come on how wonderful of a decision that was for all parties involved......Hopefully she can get on some AAU teams and influence someone like Cameron Brink www.espn.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/rankings/_/class/2020 to stay local..... Go Beavs!
