Still tied for first in Conference. 3-1 against 4 straight top twenty teams.
Beat the Trojans Beavs.

You won't win many games having a dry spell over 5 minutes. Doesn't matter if you had a few calls go against you. Have to score to have a chance to win going down the stretch in tight games.

Or your leader having maybe her worst big game of her career! Exactly. I won't mention the 9.2 e+07 jump balls. Probably the most I've ever seen in one game. It was eerie how no matter where the UCLA defender was, it was a jump ball. But, hey, that's the way the ball bounces.

They hit a bunch of clutch shots when they had to, us less so. No shame losing a close one to a ranked team on the road that could go deep into the tourney. And UCLA is markedly skilled at tying up opponents for jump balls - or at least in this game the refs sure thought they were! While Weiss has been great for us, she is still prone to one heads down drive per game that results in a charge, and (last 2 games) one unforced "step out of bounds with the ball". These are things great players clean up, and I expect she will as well. Very uncharacteristically turnover prone this game, and unable to "stop and pop" and shoot us back into the game. Pivec flustered, first time (as observed). Kat deadly at home, less so on the road......"the best thing about freshmen...." Gabby came to play, hit some big shots for us, hit her FTs, hope that continues. Our bigs can learn from this game as well - they have been less assertive than I would like to see in snatching the rebounds with authority in crowds. Bre coming into her own.
We don't find ourselves in losing scenarios frequently (thankfully), but as a result our "foul for profit" endgame is a little less polished than it could be (I noticed that about Stanford the other night as well).
I think this game (and there is one about every season) actually gets me wondering about details of SR's coaching philosophy. I think his teams succeed in spite of a bit of a free wheeling style that results in semi-excessive turnovers. They seem to have become part of the "cost of doing business" as a Beaver team. What I wonder is - why doesn't he assert more ball hygiene? Or maybe he does and it doesn't get executed, or maybe he doesn't have the players of that regimented style to impose it on, is it acceptable risk/reward, or is it just a once a season focus issue, or is it the opponent, or or......
Now, don't get me wrong, SR has more coaching acumen in his little pinkie than I will ever have, so I am not questioning his style or approach - I just wonder if he wants to impose more ball safety or if that would hinder his players freedom to operate and negatively affect our O. i.e. are we a bit careless with the ball, or does a certain opponent just make us appear so?
Go Beavs!

Lose the TO battle 16-5 and the O-boards 13-8 and bad things happen with that kind of shots attempted disadvantage.

I always wonder just how dominant we'd be if we cut our TO's in, say, half!

I always wonder just how dominant we'd be if we cut our TO's in, say, half! Counting turnovers is like counting Time of Possession in football. I am so damn mad at myself for missing this game. That being said, want PAC 12 access? i4atv.us/pac12/network/

Watching the UCLA-o game, the Bruins have forced as many turnovers in the first half as they had all game against OSU. Turnovers is what UCLA does, sometimes you just gotta live with it. And like what touchdownbeavers says above, I compare it to LOB in baseball, score 8 and leave 16 because no one is hitting homeruns. If those turnovers come with lots and lots of assists, then keep going.
