Since it's relatively slow in Beaver land, I've had a chance to actually sit through a few Blazer games the last couple weeks. Pretty ugly.
Armchair GMs, what should they do?
- Stand pat, hope the young guys develop quickly? - Trade CJ for a big? Rumors swirling lately w/CJ to Philly for Nerlens Noel + multiple picks. - Blow it all up and start over?
Individually.. I love CJ, love Lillard, but together they become such a liability on defense, it's ridiculous.
Said it last summer and I still feel that emptying the wallet on Crabbe and Meyers Leonard (3 minutes last night) was a really terrible idea. Turner - was hopeful, I get that they were looking for a big guard who could play some defense and handle the ball, but he hasn't really carved out a consistent role or been all that effective.

Moving Dame is the quickest solution. He's the biggest liability in that team. He's moved from the hardworking 4-yr college guy who's super coachable to the NBA superstar wanna be who thinks diversifying into multi media money making ventures improves his game. The kid can score period. He's a lot like LA in my opinion, at best a #2 playing with a true #1. But, he'll never ever except playing 2nd fiddle. At least here in Pdx. And with his, CJ, Meyer's, Alan's salaries no way they can bring in a true #1 even if one would come. They need to break down the superstar mentality he has built in the current locker room and build picks and some quality younger Vets. Just my take, but not really an NBA fan.

I agree that that might be the quickest and best solution. I don't think they'd go that route as it would be a PR nightmare since they've essentially handed him the keys to the franchise. At this point, I think we've arrived at "what we see is what we get" with Dame. I don't think he'll get significantly better on the defensive side of the ball. Probably not a whole lot different on offense. Given the struggles getting FAs to come to Portland, CJ for players and picks is probably a good move, bonus if they can unload one of the bad contracts. Have to build through the draft...
