2 QB's--Luton, Willard 1 RB--Green 3 OL--Mackay, Sattlemaier, Wellsfry 6 WR--Calvin, Flemings, Hodgins, Taylor, Short, Sykes
2 DL--Bowcutt, Evans 1 LB--Morris 2 DB--Gardner, Manning
2 Ath--Allen, Hayes
Looks to be light in OL, DL, LB, DB...and maybe a RB. Can Allen and or Hayes play DB or project to put on weight and play LB?
DL could really be a problem. If Bowcutt goes on a mission (like he is rumored to be planning) and Evans is a 1 and done (like he says he wants to do), I would say another 2 or 3 DL would be welcome.
How many guys can we sign? Can a WR or 2 Greyshirt? Take Bowcutt and up to 2 Greyshirts and our commit # goes from 19 to 17 or 16. With those last 8-10 spots (a guess), what does GA have in his magic hat? Really hope to address the areas mentioned above. Where is Fendy with his "Wish List" when you need it?! It will be a fun and interesting 3 1/2 weeks or so until LOI day.

I am not sure on our scholarship count standing right now, I haven't looked into it. But at 19 commits we have to be close. Any room left should go to the DL in my opinion. or a stud LB.

I want some high motor DE's to go along with run stuffing LB's.

I've seen it mentioned a couple times that it will be 25ish once we factor in defections, greyshirts, possible that a kid or two counts toward last year.
So, assuming it's 25, that gives us 6.. my wishlist:
DL 2. 1 DT/1 DE LB 1 DB 2 JC CB/HS S OL 1
If more than 25? More beef please. Do we care about TEs anymore?
We also just offered a preferred walk-on spot to Dylan Porter, DT from Elmira. 6'5" 293. He has about a 1/2 dozen PWO offers. Could be one of those small school steals if he ends up here- have a feeling he'd have some stars next to his name if he was at a 5A/6A school. Anyhow, we need bigs, so the more the merrier...

WHERE'S THE BEEF!?!?! Does Wendy's still use that slogan? Anyways, it has always been and always will be about the lines in football... So the more OL and DL the better. I love the WR, and am very hopeful that we are seeing the return of a long line of NFL caliber WR, but more big dudes would make me happy

Here is what I think: QBs-we are set. WRs-we are set. OL-Need at least 2 more to get the team back to the magical goal of 16-18 scholarship at OL. This is even with counting Houston now on the OL, where I think he will do very well. TE-Could possibly use 1 here, but right now they are 4 deep here after being down to 2 last year due to injuries and transfer rules. RBs-Need 1. It makes sense that they are trying to recruit 1 here as they already had 1 switch to another school--unless Quantino Allen or someone else is seen as a running back. DL-They graduated 1 and already replaced him. Houston switched over to OL. I would imagine they would take 1-2 here, but only if they are high enough quality. Depth would be fine without adding more. LBs-They graduated 1 starter and have 1 commit to replace him. This is another position that they will definitely take another recruit or 2, but only if it they are good quality. Secondary-1 more this class and maybe more.
By all accounts the class will be around 25 (including my unscientific count of scholarship openings and projecting losing the typical handful of players).
This coaching staff likes to stockpile versatile talent. They see the most versatile talent being secondary, wide receivers and probably linebackers. So any of these type of athletes that are considered talented enough they will continue to take with the idea that they will find a home because of talent and versatility. As always any athlete that is considered elite regardless of position will be taken as long as space is available.
The staff has been more targeted in recruiting lately due to limited number of openings and timing of recruiting cycle. I believe the numbers will soon balance out more and that it will work out as players find their home (even some of the current players will still soon find new homes--it is just what happens all in time).

We have a minimum of 23 scholarships available - as I do not believe there were any walk-ons who played themselves into scholarships this past season. In typical years past we have gone 5-10 above the limit to account for attrition/DNQs. Obviously that number can be adjusted when coaches know what's up. FWIW, from 2009-2014 we averaged 9.5 scholarship WR and 5 scholarship TE on the roster. I suppose if TE is being de-emphasized in this offense, having 14 WR isn't absolutely out-of-whack. I suppose if a guy is moving to OL from DL, we'd have 14 on scholarship for next year as we stand, which wouldn't be grossly under used, but seems odd we'd have as many schollies going to WR as OL. I'd personally like to see another OL or 2 and another DL or two. Round that out with another CB or two.

Looking over other pac12 classes, it does not appear to be a real deep OL talent pool out there. Lots of similar Oline players, 3stars, alot that we offered but went elsewhere. But we don't know when those offers were happened or how hard we actually recruited and contacted each. I think you could say the same with the Dline and LB areas. IMO we did very well just to get Morris(sure hope he stays solid). And I'm sure we're putting the full court press on Green now too. But just one of those two is a solid haul for LBs this year. Then there is getting Evan's over OU. All in all, looks like a fairly well rounded class given what was out there this year.

Emony Robinson is now on scholarship. He has increased his weight to 225 based on the official announcement. Landing one of the other LBS would probably finish the LB class.
