There are SO MANY Sports at Stanford that it is impossible to catch them all. Additionally, most of these students would rather study than attend a women's basketball game, especially when you always expect your team wins. What was this - their fifth loss at home in 90 games. That's probably 9 seasons of Conference BB.

Unless the fans see it as a huge matchup they don't show. I've gotten football tix for $10 at midfield with preseason hoops tix tossed in. Same happened in baseball... softball and parking pass tossed in by batting cages. Funny area.

Most of the urban schools are that way. School staff and profs don't live around the school and want to commute to the games - not with all the other entertainment options that they have. Most students aren't all that nearby, either. If the local papers have anything on the teams at all, it's on page 13, buried way behind all the local pro teams. And good luck finding sponsors for the radio broadcasts.
Corvallis has its advantages. As Scott says, "You don't have to win every game to get people excited here - but when you do . . . "
