The following were the 2017 signees, each with an impressive resume. Any insider info on how their falls were? What's the inside scoop on the freshmen this year? Who won't be joining? Who will be the freshman All-American this year?
Andy Armstrong: Dakota Donovan: Grant Gambrell: Preston Jones: Tyler Malone: George Mendazona: Jake Mulholland: Adley Rutschman: Mitchell Verburg: Elliot Willy: Taylor Wright:

Saw George Mendazona play all summer against (mostly) college players for Bend of the WCL. He batted .272 as an everyday player. Mostly at 2B and 3B as I recall. Made 14 errors, a bit too many...but I was impressed with his composure at the plate. He had just graduated from High School in Redmond, Oregon, so the pitching he faced was definitely a step above what he was used to. He started the season very strong and was named to the South squad for the mid-season all star game.

Although the infield is solid with Madrigal and Grenier, and Gretler possibly in the mix if he's not catching, the Beavers will need to shore it up with reliable backup. It seems to happen every year where an infielder goes down (most likely at the most inopportune time) and the Next Beaver up is thrust right into the middle of a Pac -12 war. According to the Portland Tribune where I think they quoted Pat Casey, Mendazona is one of the four "blue chippers" of the class.
