This year's SDSU squad lost 42-24 at South Alabama. 6-6 South Alabama. SDSU is a solid team, but I doubt they'd have had any more conference success than OSU. SDSU was 1-0 vs P12 opponents. Comparing games and scores from uncommon opponents doesn't tell us all that much. Boise was 2-0 vs the PAC, but lost to Wyoming and Air Force. Snapshots aren't nearly as telling IMO as underlying fundamentals of a team. When you play 14 games as SDSU has, there's bound to be a flaw or two along the way. I broke down SDSU's defensive and offensive rankings nationally because that to me is much more telling than any single game over a 14 game season. Take for example FSU getting rolled over by UL like 63-20. If you just looked at that outcome it would be easy to suggest UL would have a much better season than FSU. As it turns out they have identical 9-3 records going into the bowls.
