Ugh....this is a strange deal. We have more talent on this team than what is displayed on court, and just not sure what to make of it. In past seasons, even with far worse talent, we'd win games like these. A couple things stood out for me...
We are extremely offensively challenged. Not that these guys can't shoot, but they seem like a mental mess out there. I sat right behind Gary Payton both nights, and I could overhear him lamenting about how they seem scared- the young guys I think he meant. He made the comment about how he watches them constantly look over their shoulder at coach, and they 'just need to play'. (His words...) One positive note....Gary sees a bright future these young guys, so hope he's right.
Second thing....Dallen is, to put it nicely, a huge liability. The fact that he starts is beyond me. Kone looks like the real deal...get him in there sooner, I say. Watched Long Beach and Portland continue to attack wherever Dallen was on the court. He plays little defense and always gets beat on the boards. Long story short....looks like the walk on that he is.
Ok, third thing.....Eubanks. He looks pretty frustrated right now. Portland's big guy worked him over all....night.....long. And gosh, I hate to say this, but there were MANY times it seemed like Eubanks' effort was less than 100 percent. That bothered me prolly more than any other one thing. The frustration of losing may be really taking a toll.
Still had fun watching my Beavs in the Rose City however....no regrets. Talked to Daniel Gomis briefly after the game; just said how much we missed his presence out there.....he nodded knowingly.
And lastly, as another poster already stated, this is a SHELL of a team from last year, and injuries have only exacerbated that. No Jarmal (say what you want, but he was TOUGH inside), no Duvivier (we are lost at the point), no Langston Morris Walker and his three point shooting, no Gomis, no Bruce.....and of course the killer of all killers....no GP2. I think only now are we realizing how special of a player he really was.
Ok, just had to get that off my chest. Still believe in Wayne Tinkle....he's the guy, and I know in the long run we'll be alright. Go Beavs!!!
