I see 1-17 in the conference beating WSU at home. A long fall from last year's effort.
Ok, we are not firing Tinkle anytime soon. Things were fine the first 2 years, but now we have a train wreck. Injuries sure aren't helping.
I am interested in what you suggest the Beavs do. And please be realistic. Motion/screens on offense and consider the 1-3-1 on D are two thoughts that come to my poorly educated mind.
I do agree - they look lost. Is it that they are not following the coaching or the coaching isn't there?
C'mon, Beavs.

This is a team that lacks confidence, a floor general, and besides Eubanks, defense. I would like to see some more passion and fight on defense. Some brutal home stink bombs this season. Other teams know they can beat us and play like it.

At least in year one we had a strong IDENTITY. Everyone knew exactly what type of team it was. What the heck is this team? Running, slow down, man or zone or what?

This team has one look, LOST in the fog! If not for Eubanks, this team is probably 0-fer the season. Drew has tons to learn but he is a PAC12 athletic center that can actually shoot pretty well and moves better than any one on the team I think, he needs to shoot more, is he being told not too shoot and pass it more? He gets trapped quite easily and then loses the ball, or throws a bad pass, THAT is coaching IMO.?? Stevie MAY become a quality PAC12 player in time, and Tres is ok, plays hard, but plays out of control WAY too much. There is no identity on this team at all, it is not and offensive , defensive, screen and pop, I have no idea what Tinkle is trying to get these kids to do, cause they all are lost on the court 99% of the time it seems.

I wish I had better computer skills to find a play from yesterday's game that epitomizes how awful we've been early on here. It was late in the second half and Savannah St. was bringing the ball down on a break. Eubanks was hustling back, looking over his shoulder to track open runners to the lane. All of this was good. Then, inexplicably, once he made it back to the key he completely lost court awareness and allowed a guy to flash right across the key in front of him for an easy layup. It was just completely deflating. I made my nine year old son watch the play four times and told him we deserved to lose if that was how we were going to play defense.

the other team knew exactly what to do to exploit our weaknesses....I do not mean player weaknesses but coaching weaknesses....they used a zone alot and Tinkle does not use traditional zone breaking offensive sets.....He coached just like the last two coaches did excepted when he had two posts in....we did a pretty good hi/low when we had that set...however i was taught the way to attack a zone is to put more men on one side and set them up in the free spaces passing game and reverse it to the other side...their are several basic sets to use in doing this....you can run this off of the base offense particularly the triangle......this is high school level stuff that both my dad and my brother have run for ever to break down the different zones,,,,,,

Most of the game, we did not stop the forward progress of their guard bringing the ball up, leading to a embarrassing number of coast-to-coast scores. We left the "coffin corner" 3 point shooter open fairly consistently, and that lack of awareness was also on our offensive end, where Muller was wide open, waving his arms and no one would swing the ball to him. We also don't seem to understand how to break down the zone by overloading, putting someone or having someone penetrate to the free throw line/soft underbelly of the zone and then either skip, dish out or in. Drew had a distinct size and leaping advantage that even the announcers were oft lamenting we were not going over the top with. Sigh.
Go Beavs! No where to go but up....

I am interested in what you suggest the Beavs do. And please be realistic. When the players don't listen to the coach, you have two options, 1) get new players, or 2) get a new coach. The players know how to run plays and play defense. The coach knows how to diagram a play. What we are seeing is a lack of respect between players and coach IMO. Being realistic, we are not going to get rid of Tinkle, so we need to start turning over the players. If Tinkle continues to go through the motions for another year with the same results, then it will be time for option #2.

I think it would take a miracle for this team to beat WSU at home.
WSU does not play in Corvallis this season.

I know what I'll be doing about it - mostly tuning out until they give me a reason to pay attention again.
