Every basket is by OSU is shown live, and THEN they show the replay TWICE, each from a different camera. Meanwhile we miss so much of the Beaver defense, which is what makes them the successful team they are.

I am just happy the production values have improved since last year - when it seemed like the person behind the camera felt compelled to zoom in and out rapidly and endlessly..... I do agree that this year the issue has become endless replays of made baskets (though made baskets were a bit of a rarity tonight in stretches) and forgetting about showing the defense.
I would like to see the defense more - since that is where we need to maintain some continuity from last season.
Southern Utah seemed to be small, quick and scrappy, and they appeared (when we could watch) to hustle for several rebounds that I thought we should have been able to secure. We were very cold from the inside on "gimmie" baskets for much of the game, otherwise the score would have seemed even more lopsided. Kat Tudor is really showing off her elite shooting, but I think more important than her range is her quick release. I really like Maddie Washington's motor as well. Pivec has a lot of hustle to her game as well.
I think Scott Rueck might be able to shape this team into something more formidable than a middle-of-the-pac team, but right now the weakness remains boarding and interior entry passes. Good to see that free throwing is coming along......
Go Beavs!

Speaking of Madison (Maddie) Washington here is a tidbit you all might not realize about her grandfather, Booker Washington: "1964: OSU 7, UO 6. Rose Bowl implications abound for both teams and 30,154 are on hand at Parker Stadium for one of the series' most memorable games. Booker Washington scores the only touchdown of his Oregon State career with 57 seconds left and Steve Clark makes the go-ahead extra point in a 7-6 Beavers victory. Earlier, in the second quarter, Al East had blocked a Ducks point-after attempt. The win leads Oregon State to the Rose Bowl -- the last bowl appearance for the Beavers for 35 years." Just so you know.

I liked Madison's game as well, but she seemed a bit anxious when she went in. Sitting up here in Portland with my computer and my whistle and I would have called traveling on her when she went back in during the fourth quarter and caught the ball on the left wing. Good stuff about Booker.

Not as difficult as watching the men live! The ladies actual have fundamentals, defense, and play team ball... You are totally right, they look terrible and that is on a good day. Can't believe they look so bad, it's like they all forgot how they played last year. I realize GPII is gone, but this is ridiculous. Cant' break the press, can't shoot, can't play D, and no organization on O at all, unbelievable chaos. Dew is gone hopefully, and Kone is either still injured, totally out of shape, or is not close to being a D1 player, he is of no value on the court right now!!
