Unfortunate loss, but good for Brennan.

What's the chances he takes some recruits with him? Then they aren't ballers. What, you would rather play down in little league than play in the Pac 12?

To add to the competition level disparity, the facilities at SJSU are the very bottom of the Mountain West.

I don't see him listed as the recruiter for many of our recruits at all... Of course a lot of the "recruited by" section is blank... And I haven't heard about Brennen talk to recruits very much recently either, mostly Wood, McGiven, Odum and Coach Andersen. Which surprises me, because I *thought* he was one of our better recruiters under riley... I know they break up into sections of the country... which section was his?

So this of course begs the question... We have had a LOT of really good receivers come through during Coach Brennan's time here is that because:
A.) Brennan was great at recruiting future superstar WR? B.) Brennan was great at Coaching up future superstar WR? (Weather they came in highly touted or not) C.) Coach Riley's system and QBs created great WR numbers? D.) OSU as a whole had a nice long lucky streak with recruiting WR? E.) Something else I am missing?
I think we will miss Brennan a lot, if nothing else he seemed to be a favorite of our players. Of course since he is the "Outside" receivers coach, does he get any of the blame for Villamim's, Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season?

Unfortunate loss, but good for Brennan. good for him. Brennan is a great guy and a great coach. No shame losing an assistant to an HC gig. I wish him luck!

When was the last time an assistant was hired directly from the OSU staff as a Head Coach? I think it's been a long, long time. Good for Brennan, and good for the Beavers having quality coaches on staff. Credit shared by Coaches Riley and Andersen, so don't start!

I think we will miss Brennan a lot, if nothing else he seemed to be a favorite of our players. Of course since he is the "Outside" receivers coach, does he get any of the blame for Villamim's, Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season? my thoughts: A. Brennan was always credited with being a great recruiter. I know it is hard to track down the "who recruited who" numbers... but Brennan is pretty prominent in all the Hodgins pictures on twitter when he committed. Historically he recruited California well, which now fits with his SJSU job. B. Brennan was a great educator of technical details that made raw talent great. Wheaton and Cooks were next level with him. I need to go look for it, but there was a great youtube video of Mannion and Cooks doing extra work a few years back. Cooks talks to the camera about all his WR responsibilities in response to the defense. He talks for a bit about how if the CB lines up 5 in press, he runs X, if the CB is 5 yards off, he runs X, if the CB is playing 10 off he runs X. if the safety is shaded over, he runs X, et cetera. This is coaching, not natural ability. Cooks had god given speed, but he ran really great routes and did the right thing on the field and ran the right route as well. Another time, one of the WR tweeted out a picture of all the player specific notes Brennan wrote to WRs pregame. it was a list of "things to do". had stuff like, your CB likes to do X, so hand fight on the line and do Y type of thing. I need to try and find this stuff when I get a minute. C. Of course... he ran a pass-centric pro offense. But you evaluate things in context. Brennan coached an Biletkinoff winner, and a couple NFL guys and a few cup of coffee NFL guys. You see the tape of what they did.. But you are right, having an NFL QB throwing the ball to your WRs sure does help!!! D. I believe OSU did a really good job finding raw talent and developing it for the most part with Riley. It is looking like CGA is doing a good job of finding raw talent too, but it has only been two years. I don't call that luck, I call that a system that worked (mostly). E. nah. I think Brennan was a really good young coach, players really liked him, he was detailed orientated in summary. Good for him.

What's the chances he takes some recruits with him? Probably small. SJSU is not a power 5 team.

What's the chances he takes some recruits with him? Not sure he takes any recruits with him to SJSU. However, he was known to be one of the best recruiters on staff, so its certainly possible we could lose a commit or lose out on a recruit due to Brennan leaving.
Happy for coach Brennan, but certainly a little worried about how this possibly impacts OSU both recruiting and coaching.

So now the search to replace him begins. I wonder who GA and the AD come up with. Oh wait.....WE STILL DON'T HAVE AN ATHLETIC DIRECTOR.

Do you really think an AD is involved with a position coach search? Wouldn't the HC go about determining who he wants...then maybe have the AD dept. vet his background? By all means, if we have to wait to hire an asst. football coach until we have a permanent AD in place, I guess we wait to fill the position.
