U Conn quickly made it back to the top of the latest Associated Press Top 25 women's basketball poll that was released today. The Beavs (5-1), following two wins in Maui last week, remain at #24. The PAC-12 women are once again well represented with eight teams in the top 31 as follows: #9 UCLA (6-1), #10 Stanford (8-1), #11 Washington (8-1), #18 Colorado (8-0), #24 Oregon State (5-1), #26 Oregon (7-1), #27 Arizona State (5-2), and #31 California (7-0). collegebasketball.ap.org/ap-womens-college-basketball-poll-week-5

Wow. While it's still early, there are plenty of hopefully hard-fought, good basketball games in our future....... I thought we might move up as several teams in the 20's ahead of us last week had one or more losses.
The downside (upside?) is there is no pressure to pack the out-of-conference schedule with resume builders, plenty of that during the Pac-12 season. That might let us develop, might not provide enough simulation of conference games. For the first time in a long time, the school down south might give us a game.
Go Beavs!

And Oregon State is up 2 spots to #16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll: www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/rankingsUCLA, Stanford, Washington come in at #9, 10 and 11 (just like the AP poll), ASU #23, Cal #24, Colorado #28.... This will all be more interesting once the conference season starts, of course. Go Beavs!
