A positive from last night... Bre Brown, besides having a very good game again, had only 2 fouls and played 24 minutes. That has been one of her key issues in the past, so hopefully this is a sign that she's getting it under control.
Turnovers have been probably the #1 frustration to this point...
Year Turnovers/game 2014-15 16.2
2015-16 15.5
2016-17 ~ 12 so far...but of course the conference season will make it a lot tougher.
For some perspective though... I looked at the 2015-16 team statistics for the top-tier Pac-12 teams and here's what I found:
Turnovers/game UW 12.7
Stanford 13.9
UCLA 14.6
ASU 14.8
Though OSU has been a bit worse than other teams, turnovers are a general problem in women's basketball.

Here is another comparative measure of turnovers this season: TEAM STATISTICS OSU OPP -------------------------------------------------- TURNOVERS............... 72 63 Turnovers per game.... 12.0 10.5 Turnover margin....... -1.5 - Assist/turnover ratio. 1.4 1.1
So even in the "softer" part of our schedule, we are doing worse than our competition. I have had a nagging feeling that we are a little more turnover-prone than our competition (Pac-12 or otherwise), and it seems to be true based on what you have uncovered and what we have going on so far this season. Is it a significant enough margin to decide games? I seem to recall our UCLA blowout loss last year was a turnover fest.....Would we be able to play the same style were we to put higher emphasis on valuing the rock?
Go Beavs!

If you recall last year, you'll remember that we had only one decent ball-handler who played significant minutes: Sydney Wiese, and she did not have a quick first step due to her size, so she had a great deal of trouble even getting a pass off when harrassed by a quicker defender. She was frequently hamstrung dribbling in circles in a frantic effort to get loose. And what was Rueck's answer? Play JenVonTa? What? When Taylor Kalmer, a premier ball-handler was on the bench getting virtually no playing time? This year we have Kalmer, Pivec, and Tudor. All of these 3 young ladies are qualified to move a basketball downcourt and dribble out of trouble. Rueck needs to prep them for a lot of playing time during the conference season, since we WILL be seeing exactly that kind of quick guard doing body-to-body defense. This is precisely what we have lacked for a couple years now
