This is a public service announcement from your friendly, local tyrant/dictator: The "F word" has now been censored. Test: f%#* Even so, let's try to use it sparingly, judiciously. I don't mind colorful language, but I know others do. So even though it's censored, think of something better to say. I know there are ways around the censoring, so just don't do it. Posts trying to circumvent the software will be deleted, posters will be warned, then banned if they keep it up. Now, that we own the state again for another 360 days or so (hopefully much, much longer than that) let's show a tad bit of respect to the male anatomy by not denigrating it (dick, dicks, dix, etc) by using it in place of TSDTR's mascot. Uck, slug-eater, etc are better than the aforementioned verbiage. I'm not trying to turn this place into a knitting circle, I just think we can do better. That is all for now, carry on.

Thanks for that. I have an eight year old grandson I have had to stop his viewing because of the language of a few. I am building quite a young and gung ho beaver. He did not like being banned from Benny's House but his dad and mom agreed with me. I am looking forward to allowing him to once again viewing Benny's House. Go Beavs

That's a great idea, Glove. I can get a little salty at times (for effect..you understand...) but, that is a word I don't use on a message board. Like NorthValley says, families should be able to view it ALL. Take care...

Go Beavs No offense, but why do you let AN EIGHT YEAR OLD CHILD read any Internet forum that could/does get emotional, heated and sideways quickly? I'm sorry for using the "F" word and calling the *ucks by another "naughty" word that make some people uncomfortable, BUT it is 2017 and the PC Card is played out. After viewing this site for some time I have gathered that this perhaps is not the best medium for anybody under 18 to view...? (I'm not the only person to use some Rated-R language)? Funny no complaints about my language until I pointed out how lame Riley is.... Glad your Grandson likes the Beavs FYI, and my post is not trying to be sarcastic and down putting, but merely pointing out that when some people post here, they are not expecting ANY minors to be reading a forum where washed up 30+ year old Beaver Die Hard fans go to talk about anything Beaver related.. kinda like taking your kid to a sportsbar and getting mad about "bar talk" IMO. Sorry? Go Beavs class 04'

It's not my intention to make Benny's House 100% "family friendly." In motion picture rating parlance, let's call it PG-13. If that's OK for your 8 yo grandchild, it's up to you.

I appreciate the challenges of keeping a forum PG-13, and I for one find dropping F-bombs to be mostly unnecessary, but on occasion attention getting. I like to refer to the folks down the road as 'ucks (no D), but appreciate the creativity of others (toilet seats is another favorite, zeros as well). Compounding the issue is the fact that teams like Oregon State and South Carolina come with built-in alliterations :-) - kind of like a culturally accepted short form of Richard....
Hmmm, the UofO Richards?
Go Beavs!

I'm on the fence on this one. As a father, I definitely wouldn't want my son reading Benny's House...not only for the language, but because I think he needs to be old enough to form his own opinions before he gets on here and starts reading other peoples and accepting them as fact. It's why, even when he agrees with me at home about something (like Donald Trump was a horrible choice for president) I make sure to mention pro-Trump stats and reasons why people are voting for him. It worked when he went through his young rebellious phase of rooting for the Ducks from ages 4-7 to try to get a rise out of me. I told him it was fine, he could make his own decision on who to root for. Fast forward to now and he's begging for his own season ticket for next year for Christmas and hates Oregon with passion equaled only by the members of this message board.
As for language, I'm a big proponent of the well-timed curse word to illustrate a point. They're never necessary, but can be effective when deployed correctly. I'd be more in favor of some sort of disclaimer when you sign in that you have to acknowledge that language may be present.

I am generally a fan of trying to get creative in cursing... anybody can drop an f-bomb, and lord knows I do with a surprising frequency. But euphemisms can be fun. But in mixed company, no reason to not really put the wonderful English language to good use. I have no problems with censoring the naughty words.
