Sources say Helf is gone.
$11M buyout. Has the ducks in the National Championship game and 22 months later fired.
That has to be the fastest implosion I can think of.

Sources say Helf is gone. $11M buyout. Has the ducks in the National Championship game and 22 months later fired. That has to be the fastest implosion I can think of. Gene Chizik won a national championship in 2011 and was fired at the end of the 2012 season. I suppose, if they fire Helf before Saturday, it would technically be faster. Chizik went 11-14 in the two seasons after winning a national championship. Helf went 13-12. Frank Solich was fired in 2003 after taking Nebraska to the national championship game in 2002. Solich went 16-10. Don James won a national championship after winning the Rose Bowl in 1992. He quit the next year over his assertion that the university president negotiated stiffer penalties in exchange for a lower fine. Depending on your use of the term, those three would be the fastest implosions of the past 25 years.
