Our wide receivers do not have a QB that can complete a pass and they do not have an OC that can call effective routes. end of discussion. I have seen time and time again our WR be wide OPEN. wide muther effing open. open for miles and our QBs just cannot deliver the ball. In literally every single game this season Bolden has solidly beaten a person deep only to not have a QB get the ball within a country mile of him. The number of flat misses to our WRs outnumber the drops and blown plays more than 10 to 1. easily. When did you see a 2nd string guy come in and be a star? Uh, Villamin, when he had Mannion throwing to him and an OC that knows how to call pro routes. I also think you are forgetting about his development of Mullaney... whom NOBODY would call a naturally gifted athlete. Everything that guy did was pure technical skill, route running, and hands. Hunter Jarmon had over 300 receiving yards, for over 16 ypc as a frosh in 2014. Bolden, Villy, Jarmon... they all peaked in 2014, as first year players. They have never achieved the same level of success. Because Brennan sucks? LOL. no. because our QB and our offense sucks. that is why. But I do agree... They should let Brennan go. He is way too good of a guy to suffer this trainwreck. Development of Mullaney?! Are you kidding me? Mullaney went backwards like Villamin. BTW, players that start right out of the gate and get worse is a sign of poor coaching "PERIOD"! Never said Brennan "sucks" but he has not elevated the overall play of the wide receivers. BTW, playing wide receiver is a lot more than just how many catches they have. The route running is sloppy, stalk blocking has been below average and again.... how has Hawkins been? How about Jarmon (he was a 3 star receiver coming out of Texas and he barely sees the field but even when he does not impressive)? Paul Lucas has fallen off from last season as far as making plays (and had similar touches to last season-not exact but close). BTW the OC doesn't just throw a bunch of routes together and call that as a play, LOL god that's funny! Glad to see ya have it all figured out though, like usual! Go Beavs! Players that start out of the gate hot, then lose an NFL QB, a head coach, a OC and an entire offensive system is not a sign of a poor receiver coach. WRs do not win the Belitkenoff award on natural talent alone. They do not become 3rd and 1st round draft picks because they were just really fast... They do it with a combination of all of the above. They were in an offensive system that showcased their skills. they were educated in running pro offenses and pro offense routes. They had a 3rd round NFL QB throwing the ball to them. they were built to be in the position they were. Chalking up Wheaton and Cooks to natural skill and not to coaching is comical at best. Placing the blame in our passing game at the feet of our WRs and coach because he can't develop talent is incredibly short sighted and lacks any vision at the larger picture. How the entire thing works together to form the whole. We do not have a division 1 quarterback on this roster. Our best actual passer has only started third of our games in two years. There is not one single QB on our roster that would start for ANY P5 team in this nation. not even close. Garretson couldn't win the job at Utah State... Our star QB recruit in Moran last year is a guy that only had offers at being a safety anywhere else... Our coaches are completely clueless in finding a QB that can pass. It is a sign of poor play at the QB position, a head coach and OC that have suspect QB evaluation and development skills and a directionless, identity free offense. IF we had an NFL quality, or heck even an average P5 QB, and their stats fell, I'd agree. if we had consistency in our offensive playcalling year over year, I would agree. Heck, if Brennan was even coach of ALL the WRs an not just "outside Receivers" coach, I'd agree. But prerequisites for success at the position simply are not in place.

Development of Mullaney?! Are you kidding me? Mullaney went backwards like Villamin. ...but.. but.. that's exactly what he said. That Mullaney went backwards, just not for the reason you think. We haven't found a good QB after Mannion. All of these players appear to regress from 2014 because they can't catch a ball that is never located in a place where they have an opportunity to go make a play. This hurts a guy like Mullaney the most because he makes his living on outstanding execution and consistency and he needs a QB who can anticipate when he is coming open and put it in a place for him to make a play. This isn't unique to the Beavers. UCLA has really struggled with finding a QB for several seasons now, for instance. ASU and Arizona are both struggling to find a good one. Lets be clear on this one... Mullaney regressed because he was hurt in 2014. You are not a good wide receiver with turf toe and a torn up elbow. that ain't on Brennan. I mean, he only played 6 games in 2014, but his stats still tracked on average even though he was hurt. freshman year 13 catches for 156 yards and a TD. soph year, 52 catches for 788 yards and 3 TDs Junior year, 18 catches for 216 and a TD in an injury filled year he only appeared partially in 6 games, and missed the entire back half of the year. so... that "backwards" had a pretty good reason. He also left in 2015. why did he leave after spring? because he saw the offense and QB situation and NOPED the hell right out of town. He is quote in the papers as saying he wanted to go out a winner. pretty easy to read between the lines there. and apparently Nick Saban and Alabama didn't think Brennan's coaching was that crappy...

Mullaney didn't go backwards outside nursing injuries, played parts of all of 5 games and being targeted all of 18-20 times his whole 3rd year.
Villamin has had 3 or 4 couple drops but he has been practically removed from the offense as opposed to being featured like he was under Riley.
Give our receivers an offense that is conductive to getting the ball, along with a QB that can deliver the ball, and they'd do better. I can't blame the receiver's coach (or his players) for what's going on with the offense.
