Anyone have thoughts on this move?
I like that our staff is trying things to improve the offense.
I'm not sure I'm sold on Crowton as that guy.

I wonder what Dave Baldwin thinks. Was he part of this decision or was he blind sided and is opposed to it.

I watched the interview with Gary Andersen on Monday. I really can not express how much confidence I have in the staff and direction. Talking about Gary Crowton GA expresses very clearly how Gary came to be at Oregon State. 1) Because he wants to be here 2) Because he wants to help and 3) because he likes kids. As Gary said, he is coming as an extra pair of eyes, to help looking at players and coaches. It is a friendship and also like having a golf pro look at your swing. It is another evaluation tool. God I love this team!!!!!!

For anyone who has ever coached football.... at any level you understand how hard of a game it is to coach and play.
I'm sold on Coach Andersen. From the interviews, to his personality, to recruiting the entire package. He is a great one and I'm glad he is getting a fresh look at the offense.
We are in good hands folks. Have we lost some games in ways that were a surprise to all of us... yes. But between the youth on this team and the switch in systems we have a big challenge ahead of us. The good thing is we have the leadership to guide us through.
Maybe Colorado will be our breakout game !

I completely trust GA on this, I can't imagine he would make this kind of a move without the buy in of McGiven and Baldwin.
They got the band back together, remember. I highly doubt Crowton is Ringo to Baldwin's Pete Best.

Maybe Crowton will be the George Martin for us.

you know that McGiven is on board with him coming to help. Not so sure about Baldwin. Thing is that the offense won't work unless the D takes the pass seriously and the QB can make completions.

Baldwin is on definitely on board. Crowton's niece is married to Coach McGiven (QB coach), for anyone who wasn't aware of that. Nice family connection that will hopefully pay some dividends going forward. He has a lot of football knowledge.

Here's the thing that sticks out to me about Crowton...
He joined the ducks as OC after a 5-6 season, bringing a spread offense with him, when Bellotti was committed to making a change. I figured that a transition to a new offensive scheme would be a long haul, but they ended up going 10-2 and a Holiday Bowl berth right off the bat. I know he's received a lot of flack from duck fans for the lack of championships after that, but there's a part of me that's very frustrated that our switch to a spread is off to such a horrible start. It doesn't have to be that way, and Crowton's teams have been living proof...
GO BEAVS!

Crowton is an outside observer only. No coaches are going anywhere.
