Miller was the Game 1 starter in the 2006 College World Series. I thought it was kind of interesting in the ALCS, when Barney faced off against Miller.

Miller was the #6 pick in the draft that year. The Tigers brought him up to the big league club that August where he pitched a few games as a reliever.
He spent the next 5 season attempting to become an effective starting pitcher, but he failed. The Tigers, Marlins, and Red Sox all wanted him to start.
In 2012, the Red Sox finally gave up on him being a starter and switched him to the bullpen where he has excelled.
During the time MLB tried him as a starter his K/BB ratio: 288/215
After MLB switched him to reliever his K/BB ratio: 425/83, including 123/9 this year.
I'd almost be willing to bet that if they switched him back to a starter now, he would probably be pretty effective, but that goes against the grain in baseball.

I really have little patience for baseball unless the Beavs are playing. As a lifelong Dodgers fan, I've ridden their wave of "almost a" and disappointment. Occasionally, I get stoked about individual players, like Ellsbury, Conforto, Barney or Matty Boyd, but the major leagues have never captured my heart. Having said that, this year's playoffs were really good. The Dodgers made a nice little run, the Giants had to play Chicago and we got to bury that silly "it's an even year" nonsense, and I can't imagine a better World Series than the one we got. A team that hadn't won in 108 years (unbelieveable) wins over another that hadn't won in something like 68 years. It goes all 7 games, with the last being an epic extra inning thriller. Hooray for the Cubbies! They "Lebroned" Cleveland fans, allowing them to see how Golden State felt when they yakked away a 3-1 lead last season and lost to the Cavs. With the lousy way that they treated DA, they deserved it! What a great Series!

Not sure what you mean by silly even year nonsense. The Giants won three titles while your Dodgers made a "nice little run".
