Do any of you have husky friends or family? I'm kind of wondering what they think about the way things have gone. Their athletic director moves them to the Big ten but then flees. They lose their head coach. And their biggest rival, the ducks, are benefiting more than anyone from the unlimited NIL salary cap. All while the Huskies struggle to get a winning season. All this with a fan base that would normally expect them to be competing for the top of their conference. How are they dealing with it?

None of them are happy. Obviously winning solves everything, but they’re barely doing that. They are all sad about the demise of the P12, and their feelings about DeBoer are the same as my feelings about Milkmaid.

The old timer Husky in my neighborhood who actually played for the Huskies back in the day expressed the same disappointment about the end of the Pac 12. I haven't talked to him about this year's campaign, so I don't know what he thinks about it. I could tell you what he thinks about NIL, but I'd be breaking the board rules.

All this with a fan base that would normally expect them to be competing for the top of their conference. How are they dealing with it? I was chatting with a dad of one of the cheerleaders at my son's football game. He went to Washington. He had an interesting take. He said that he thought that the whole point of making money was to be able to put together a Championship caliber football team. But Washington cannot win in a conference, where you have to travel to the Eastern Time Zone four times in a season. He said that there was no point to switch conferences for a couple of extra million dollars to play a much more problematic schedule. He also said that he had no idea where most of the Big Ten teams that Washington played on the road before they were on the schedule this year. And he was angry that he suddenly had to care.
