I hadn't been paying attention at all since the fight was "delayed" in the spring because Tyson had an ulcer acting up. Didn't realize it was happening Friday til the other day. Now I think I'll watch.

Tyson is a chicken farmer and Paul sucks without John Paul was the less-talented brains, and John was the brainless talent. An unstoppable tandem with one too stupid to realize it. John sucked without Paul a lot more than Paul sucked without John.

I have less than zero interest in this junk. Well that obviously can't be true, or you wouldn't have taken the time to comment.

I've been seeing click bait for this for months. I'm just glad it's going to be over.

I'm a huge boxing fan, I participated in the sport for a while, I got my USAB/USOC coaching certification and was working training youths before my career got busy enough to force me to stay out of the gym. Mike Tyson is one of my all time favorite fighters. He looks ferocious as ever in the training videos they're releasing.
I probably will not watch this fight. I do not want this fight to happen.
Tyson is nearly 60 years old, in the exhibition match with Roy Jones you saw two very old lions sort of mildly tussling. It was fine, I watched that one just because it was one of my all time favorite fighters against THE all time favorite fighter of mine, but the violence of youth is gone from Mike Tyson.
Father Time is undefeated. I don't want to see what is going to happen, happen. Jake Paul is going to hurt Mike. He's nowhere near Tyson's prime level, he's not in the same universe but Prime Tyson was a star that burned brightly and briefly, and not because of the reasons you think. The Peekaboo style does not lend itself to any kind of career longevity, it's predicated on incredible reactions, a squared up stance, and phenomenal upper body movement.
That kind of speed and flexibility is monopolized by the very young. An upright style based off timing, length, and immense power like Foreman's style will weather the ravages of time much better. Expectations for Tyson's performance should be managed, I think after the mid point of round 1 it starts to look like something we don't wanna see.

I think this is going to be very bad for Tyson.

But we all want to see the exception that proves the rule. We all want to see The Natural with a 16-year-old silver bullet in his stomach go out and defy the odds and hit the home run. (Idiotic The Natural book be damned!) We all want to see Rocky Balboa beat Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, and Captain Ivan Drago. We want to see Billy Chapel throw a perfect game at 40 in the last game of his career against the best team in baseball. We want to see Chuck Wepner go the distance against Muhammad Ali. We want to see Oregon State kill giants. So, you are probably 100% correct. But I am rooting against your well-thought-out and presented, reasoned analysis.

I am rooting against my own analysis, for the record. And, listen. I have seen oldheads climb through the ropes and teach young bucks a lesson or three. Hilariously. Floyd Mayweather gave up 50 pounds to Jake's brother Logan 3 or 4 years ago and clowned him. At one point he had to hold Logan up so he could finish the fight. But a 42 year old Floyd who never has been an ounce overweight or out of shape and who has never stopped sparring is a long ways from 58 year old Mike Tyson. And I watched the replay of the fight between Evander Holyfield and Vitor Belfort from 2021, when Holyfield was the same age as Tyson is now, and Belfort was a good 13 years older than Jake Paul. I did not enjoy seeing Holyfield get wrecked like that.

I won’t watch because I don’t want the douche to have the satisfaction of getting high ratings. His reckless stunts in Japan for Internet points has earned him my hate forever. Sure hope Iron Mike takes him out in the first round like the old days, but there’s a real reason we don’t see aged boxers.

Not that I'm a Jake Paul apologist but that was his older brother Logan that showed the video of the body of the apparent suicide victim in Japan.
