Thanks for your support of the wrestling program! You will see history as this is David Taylor's first dual as the Ok State head coach! Even better, it's against Coach P's alma mater. Hopefully we spoil DT's debut!

Looks like Ok State went with Witcraft at 133 and Burton at 141 tonight against UVU.

Another interesting result from Okie St/Utah Valley - Spratley needed a TD w/ 10 seconds left to get the win at 125.

I think that Renteria can beat Spratley. I feel like Renteria is always ready to make something happen and he has a gas tank. Hoping they put Jamison out against Singleton... I want to see Nash take a ranked win there.

Wish I could join yinz out at Gill but I've got my spot on the couch, a couple slices of pizza, and I successfully commandeer'd the TV from Mrs. ScottishSteel (actually traded cleaning out the gutters earlier in the day). Let's go Beavs!

14 - 3 Okie St at the break
125 – Oh Man can Renteria scrap; he’s a feisty dawg. It’s gonna be fun to watch him all year. The aggression is gonna cost him sometimes but it’ll help him way more often. So close to getting that TD in OT. He can beat Spratley. I think he will make noise in March.
133 – Hughes is probably better than his #33 ranking but Elliot hasn’t shown an ability to go get a TD when he needs one.
141 – I was hoping Singleton would be more explosive down at the lower weight but it doesn’t appear to be so. For those of you who would have been familiar with him in high school, was that part of his game then? I want to see him shoot a more instead of being a grinder. Jamison just seemed stronger than him; out muscled Nash
149 – As suspected, Garver getting his turn and this weight is far from decided. Pretty sure Willits beat Carter Young at NCAAs a few years ago but unfortunately Willits is well out of eligibility. No real comments about Garver or the match, Young just better right now. Hoping both Garver and Jacinto go to Navy on Saturday to get a better sample size against various talent levels
157 – ETHAN STILES WHAT A WIN!!!!!!! HUGE UPSET!!!!!! Pendelton and crew sure found a gem in the transfer portal. With both takedowns – way to keep working through the positions to get the points. Great awareness and great scrambles. Excellent summersault celebration as well

36 - 3 Oklahoma St wins
165 – Wasn’t expecting to see Menke . . . Gave up the huge move right off the bat and you knew stylistically Amine was just going to shut it down; and good enough to get away with it. That’s a tough veteran to run down after giving up the big move.
174 – In no way is this a knock on Harman but this match was almost definitely going to go south. Hamiti stylistically is a bad matchup for Harman and also really good at that style. Glad Harman kept moving and battling but this was always the most likely outcome
184 – McDonnell! The first 20 seconds were fantastic! Rest of the match not so much but there’s a reason Plott took 2nd at NCAAs last year ya know?
197 – That ride by Surber was definitely concerning; blessing in disguise it’s good that Munoz is getting challenged like this early at the new weight – gives him plenty of time to adjust and do what he needs to do to be ready for the end of season. Munoz could get to legs but that length by Surber really gave him issues finishing. Hard to say it’s anything but a disappointing result for Trey.
285 – Honestly, anytime I watch Wyatt Hendrickson I just marvel at how someone his size can move the way he does. . . so hat tip there. Like Harman, just happy to see Mower keep moving and battling until the end.

Both were awesome matches. - Still feel good about McDonnell. That's a meat grinder of a start to the season with Gabe Arnold and Plott. - Agree 100% on Singleton. Just don't see much in the way of offensive skill set it looks pretty similar to what we saw last year. - Yesterday did nothing to ease my concerns about Trey moving up a weight. But telling myself it's a long season and we're still in the adjustment period. - Wish Mower was about 20 lbs heavier. On another note, I thought I saw Attao without the elbow brace. He had the brace on at the Iowa dual, so hopefully that's a good sign. Navy Classic up next. I believe the field is Nebraska, Indiana, Bucknell, Navy, Ohio, Citadel, Air Force, Kent State, Cleveland State. Nebraska is tough, especially in the middle weights.
