At 6-8, 225 and a port-sider oozing with potential, big Kruz has a basket full of good options including signing with the mighty Beavers. It's like C.J. Walker's classic song, "Sweet dream baby, how much longer must I dream?" . Will he make our dream come true and be a Beaver? A couple of thoughts I have.
NCAA Baseball's Class of '25 NSD is 2 weeks from today on Wednesday, November 13th. Publically, Kruz is still uncommitted.
He projects as a consensus early to mid first round pick in the MLB Draft next summer. Baseball America has him going at number 9 in the 1st round.
He has shown interest in college baseball by taking official recruiting visits to Oregon State, Florida, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
He has until the end of the signing period on August 1st of 2025 to sign an LOI. He could be waiting to evaluate his draft position and corresponding slot bonus before announcing a college choice if he chooses not to turn Pro.
Could he be "quietly" committed somewhere ? - like one of those silent verbals we hear about in football.
Some MLB teams are "squeemish" about drafting prep pitchers early in the draft. For a myriad of reasons, high school pitchers fail to advance in the minors and carry a higher risk than college pitchers. In the last few years,Kruz has been so prolific with the bat at 1B, he minimizes that risk - he has loud position tools as well as his bump skills. His upcoming Senior season at Sunset HS will be interesting to MLB Scouts.
Anyone have a chrystal ball on this one?
