Well duh! None of the past will matter if we don't keep playing at a high level......but the program is absolutely using the development of players for the draft as a recruiting pitch.....and it's working, based on our recruiting classes. Guess not... or?? "Both Baseball America and Perfect Game have released their class rankings for 2024. Perfect Game ranked the Beaver's class 37th nationally. That ranking is based on high school recruits only and excludes JuCo and Portal transfers." Baseball America ranks the Top 35, OSU was not in the group. Nor in the Top of the portal transfer group on D1. BUT... WTFC about recruiting rankings. It is message board fodder and hype. How a HS player "ranks" means absolutely zero unless they develop within a system and produce. And, now with the portal teams can grab already developed talent to fill gaps. It is essential that programs do both. Perfect Game always tends to have OSU classes far below what the "finished product" is. And, that is all that counts. The 2015 class... ranked #26... Cadyn, Nick, Bryce, Trevor, Kwan... Followed by the #32 class in 2016... Adley, Jake, Eisert, Grant, Verburg, Malone, Jones, Beau, Armstrong... I'll take back-to-back #26 and #32 classes like those any time. Canham and company can recruit, there’s no doubt about that. We had top 16 classes in 2022 and 2023. In 2021 we had the 22nd best class. The only reason 2024 dipped is because we lost 2 of the top 3 guys to the draft. 2025 and 2026 are currently sitting at the 25th ranked class. As long as we continue to recruit at this level, we will continue to be a perennial playoff team and Omaha contender. |

I'm not sure why I even engage with u or smails..... It's like beating ur head against a wall. I'm not talking about the rankings, per se.....I'm talking about the quality of the kids we get to fit our program. Also, the more really highly ranked kids you get, the higher risk you run of losing more to the draft.....so ranking baseball classes is a whole different animal anyway. But go ahead and respond by calling me stupid. That's your go to.  First... I will call you out... please go cut and paste where I've called you stupid, let alone multiple times as "That's your go to" infers?? Secondly... are you so internally bias that you can not read a post that essential agrees with you? Pointing out how class rankings do not represent the quality of not only the players, but they work put in to develop "above" what some BS website says. Chirping indeed... Dude, you are a total downer. Maybe it all gets lost in translation, as it's an Internet forum, after all.......but I'm pretty sure if you talked to folks in person, like you do in here, you'd end up getting punched in the nose quite often. |

I'd like to know who the 7 teams with a better program were in 2017. We won 112 games over the next two years, two trips to Omaha and a National Championship. With the drafting of Baz, two 1-1s in five years and we are not a top 35 program by some expert? I call bull$hit.
