So OSU/WSU own what is left of Pac-12 networks. it is now Pac-12 Enterprises. It is a major asset and part of what is appealing about joining the Pac-12, and part of what was attractive to the MWC teams that joined.
Last weekend, Pac-12 enterprises produced three games.
1. OSU vs Colorado state (of course) 2. Wake Forest vs. NC State 3. LA Clippers vs Warriors preseason game
Using Pac-12 enterprises as a broad production studio outside of conference sports production and as a revenue source is savvy. It is part of what is going to bolster team revenue sharing above what we are going to get from pure media alone.
OSU/WSU sticking to their guns and not letting the traitorous ten sell this asset off for scraps was a massive win. I think they will continue to ramp up production and look to probably produce all the future Pac-12 games and gain added revenue by picking up extra events.

It's pretty intriguing. And with all of these different regional sports networks going out of business, it's a great time to have something unique to offer.
Raycom manages to generate about $5B in revenue per year. Not sure what their profit margin is, but I'm guessing it's decent.
I would bet the Pac 12 could get into MLB, do more college football and basketball, NBA... there's a lot out there to produce, if you've got the tools to do it.

I would bet the Pac 12 could get into MLB, do more college football and basketball, NBA... there's a lot out there to produce, if you've got the tools to do it. Michael Molinari, SVP of Pac-12 enterprises said "I can say that we’ve had a lot of visitors here and a tremendous amount of interest. I can’t talk about some of the relationships on the horizon, but I can tell you that it’s very promising, and I expect things to really heat up in the coming months.” We are a G5 conference in reality... but we are the ONLY one with a production studio that itself is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. We are a G5 with a major Power 5 asset that took over a decade to build up. I am in favor of honestly staying relatively small. 8 to 10 in football, maybe expanding our basketball presence and getting Grand Canyon and St. Mary's for example and really developing that production side for the revenue boost. Being a small conference with outsized revenue relative to our station can let us be a nice insulated island in this sea of chaos. It is a boon, if it goes well.

I was wondering how the Pac 12 network assets would play into all this.
It would be interesting to see the budget to run P12 enterprises. Upgrading hardware/equipment, things like that. I suppose if they are seeing plenty of interest, along with that comes investment capital. This could really be a cool set up.

I thought I saw an article awhile ago about them hiring that head of Pac-12 Enterprises during the summer who used to be one of the leaders in the old Pac-12.
They must have told them just break even and the rest is gravy. But it is intriguing to think if the Pac-12 were to become the majority shareholder and utilize it as a source of revenue. Didn't know they were handling NBA (at least pre-season), that's pretty awesome.

But rgeorge told us over and over again that the P12 network and it's assets were worthless.

But rgeorge told us over and over again that the P12 network and it's assets were worthless. Hey, I was also told Benny's House would pay off any day, so I dumped my entire 401K into it. You don't see me complaining, though, do you?

But rgeorge told us over and over again that the P12 network and it's assets were worthless. I think you confuse "worthless" with "giving the Pac12 leverage". But, you do you.

It strikes me that amongst all the talk about the big conferences someday looking to secure outside funding from corporate interests, that we just happen to have 100% full ownership and control of a corporate asset that could itself be a significant revenue generator.

That was Scott's plan all along. He could just never monetize it enough because he couldn't get Direct TV and some other entities to sign on. He refused to play the long game by taking less and signing them up.
