Is anything been said when Boyd goes? Boyd is the starter for game 2 on Monday. I wonder if pretty much every team with a pulse is kicking themselves for not signing Boyd back in June. Detroit's ace just three years ago, and was Detroit's second-best pitcher to start the season before everything went sideways, and he needed TJ surgery. Boyd pitched eight of the last nine years for the Tigers. (Boyd was recovering from his 2021 surgery in 2022 and played for the Mariners out of the bullpen. Criminally underutilized in the postseason.) Boyd pitching against his old team. Kind of strange. |

However, Skubal had TJ surgery in April 2016 and was out. Oregon State did not play Seattle again, while Skubal was there. Boyd and Skubal were teammates three of the last four years. |

Skubal played on the 2014 Kitsap Blue Jackets, one of the worst franchises in the West Coast League (they are now the Port Angeles Lefties). So did TJ Friedl of the Cincinnati Reds.
