The NCAA announced the 10 member (4 new members) Tournament Selection Committee for college baseball in 2025. Chairman: Southeastern Louisiana's Jay Artigues, Indiana's Scott Dolson (Big 10), East Carolina's Jon Gilbert (AAC), Florida State's Michael Alford (ACC), Southern Mississippi's A.D. Jeremy McClain (Sun Belt), Jacksonville State's A.D. Greg Seitz (CUSA), Kent State's A.D. Randale Richmond (MAC), Portland's A.D. Scott Leykam (WCC), Kansas State's Casey Scott (Big 12) and Florida's A.D. Scott Stricklin (SEC). In 2024 in addition to RPI, the committee looked at an additional metric in the KP Index (Kevin Pauga), and this year will also consider looking at an additional metric, the DSR (Diamond Sports Ranking), a collaborative effort of D1 Baseball and 643 Charts. Another goal of the committee in '25 is more transparency. Here is a sample of the 2024 DSR: Link: d1baseball.com/diamond-sports-ranking/

Anyone care to explain KPI and DSR? Worse versions of RPI. I do not know how they select the metrics that the Committee gets. The last two Committees have angered me with their selections. Oregon State gave them some reason to do what they did. But the Oregon State players did not deserve the Herculean postseason slate that they were handed the last two years. And that was after the Committee seemed to treat Oregon State extremely fairly (maybe too fairly?) from 2017-2022. I don't get it. I don't like it. But ding dong, the Old Committee is dead. The wicked Old Committee is dead. Good riddance! I hope that the new committee is better. I don't know how they could get much worse than 2023-2024. But KPI and DSR still worry me, because they do not seem to be producing great results for Oregon State, and I do not know what results they are looking at, which would lead them to treat Oregon State more poorly than RPI.
