I like El Paso. Obviously multi-cultural. Closer to Los Angeles than it is to far east Texas. It's only 12% non-hispanic white. There is an about 3500-foot elevation difference from the Rio Grande to the peak of North Franklin Mountain. And contrary to the opinions of some, it's generally one of the safest cities in the USA. I think a UTEP and UTSA pairing would be a natural.

The El Paso CSA (does not include any of Mexico) is 1.1M. Honolulu County (in practicality Oahu) is 1.0M.

Juarez has OVER three times the population. Juarez is NOT a “nice place.” There are nice places in old Mexico. Juarez “ain’t” one of ‘em. This, of course is just my opinion/experience. Others obviously have a different view.

But their El Chapo NIL collective is huge. But it's all directed at the super-modern-pentathlon team. If you don't know what that is, it's basically parkour while holding an AK rifle.
