My older brothers went to the same HS that Pete Rose had attended before we moved to Oregon to my mother's old house, so I have a particular affinity for Pete. I also am a very "between the lines" kind of sports fan, so none of the "Pete Rose is a bad person" stuff ever bothered me.  Anyone who grew up playing youth/HS baseball in the 60s-80s probably also has reference for Pete Rose being held up as an example of how you should play. |
