Based on this guy's (admittedly random) criteria, the usual top 3 emerge as a cut above the rest: Memphis, USF, and UTSA.
In the next tier is the other name regularly tossed around, Tulane.
But a couple other intriguing options also appear: Louisiana and Tulsa.
We've now gone a full week of complete radio silence, and that makes me hopeful.
Our initial shotgun approach helped dial in who was definitely out, and now that we know EXACTLY where we stand and our best remaining options, hopefully the real deal-making is being done.
I'd love if we were talking to several schools, and the top 2-4 AAC schools make a splash by joining all at once like the MWC schools did. Yes, that could get expensive, but it's time to stop f***ing around.
The ideal scenario I'm measuring against is the top 5 MWC schools, the top 2-4 AAC schools, and Gonzaga and UConn basketball. That would truly make us a "best of the rest", and enable a run to crash the gate of the big boys.
Getting all that is probably a pipe dream, but I'm looking forward to seeing how much of that we can pull off...
