It's deceiving to buy too much into their run game yardage - they will happily throw 3-4-5 yard quick slants and outs and that's basically a run play to them. One of their guys had 8 receptions for 29 yards last week. If our DBs aren't pressing they'll happily just quick throw for 5 or 6 yards all day long.

Wazzu has -50 rushing yards lmao. In all my life, I have never seen a team finish a game with NEGATIVE 50 rush yards! that has to be a new FBS record or a new ugly record for wazzu! What about u guys? have u seen any other team finish a game with negative rush yards? Ha. well they are an Air Raid team after all. Funny enough, despite -50 rushing, they are not the worse in the Pac. UCLA is... They also have a better YPC than ASU and UCLA and they are 4th in the league in rushing TDs. The two starting RBs for WSU are 10th and 11th in the PAC in YPC.. both over 6.

Cal and WSU are two different creatures. WSU is better in every facet of the game and can run the ball. Cal's QB was hurt 6th play on. Faulk is much superior no matter how healthy. WSU has a stable of receivers. They are very athletic on D and take more risks than Cal... but Cal's D is just flat out bad and over matched.
We need to keep WSU's offense off the field. They are much better than Cal's offense. And I'm not seeing us score 47 vs their D. Long sustained drives and create some pressure... some how. But, crazy Mike and his team are being undersold. Saturday would be a huge upset.

have to watch the EWU x WSU game again! I just wish we were more innovative on offense on par with EWU because I think our D could possibly give us a shot if we could just move the ball on offense.

I realize that the duck defense is not necessarily something to be used as a measure but WSU ran the ball 40 times for 280 yards (average of 7 yards per rush) and score SIX rushing touchdowns against the ducks. I would say that Wazzu does have a run game. Not that they necessarily need one. I'm sure they'd be fine with having -50 yards rushing and winning, like they did against ASU.
I'm no fan of Mike Leach and I was as ready as anybody else to write off the Cougars after the way they started the season, but the fact is that they are 4-0 in conference and tied for the lead in the North. Just as with Colorado and Utah (tied for the lead in the South), we sometimes need to adjust our preconceived notions of how good some teams might be.
On the other hand, I'm willing to believe that the Beavers can overcome the injuries, somehow, and give us another good game at home. We're all so gun shy that it's hard to just admit that our last two home games have been pretty good performances against two pretty good teams with vastly different styles. I'd say WSU is better than both Cal and Utah but I'll be there on Saturday (way past this old guy's normal bed time) cheering on the Beavs and hoping that we can find a way to win this one.
Go Beavs! Mike '84
