Wazzu has -50 rushing yards lmao. In all my life, I have never seen a team finish a game with NEGATIVE 50 rush yards! that has to be a new FBS record or a new ugly record for wazzu! What about u guys? have u seen any other team finish a game with negative rush yards?

Never -50.. but I believe OSU held Arizona to -23 rushing yards(93 overall) back in 2002..FWIW WSU did rush for like 285 vs Oregon.. so they can run the ball

According to the stats Falk had 10 rushes for -61 yards, must have been sacked a lot..had 2 team rushes for -14... could have been bad snap or something.. OSU had a -35 team rush vs Utah last week because of the bad snap through the endzone.. stuff like that goes against rushing total in college.. in the NFL sacks go against total pass yards.. so a QB in NFL could throw for 300 but total pass yardage for game would show 239..

We just have to show up on D in the first half. Look at the ghastly first halves vs BSU, Colorado & Udub for example.

Falk did lose ~20 or so of that in the final kneel downs - kept backing up to waste a few extra seconds. That said, ASU did sack him for some big losses earlier.

Actually I have watched a lot of college football.... I just don't watch the SEC, Big 12 or big 10. I mostly just watch the PAC-12.

Luke Falk was sacked 7 times. That does tend to diminish the yards gained.

Just to clarify for everyone: NFL counts rushing yards as ONLY rushing yards. For some reason the NCAA counts sacks and their lost yardage as 'rushing.'

Huh, I didn't realize that the NFL doesn't count sacks against the rushing total. Good to know!

As long as they keep winning, I don't think Coug fans care. I suspect they rush just enough to keep you honest. Seems like they're good at scoring.

Just to clarify for everyone: NFL counts rushing yards as ONLY rushing yards. For some reason the NCAA counts sacks and their lost yardage as 'rushing.' The reason is that it is easier. A lot of NCAA rules are designed to be less complicated than NFL rules. In the NFL, sacks count against passing yardage but not all negative rushing plays by the quarterback are "sacks." If it is a designed run and the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage, it is a run and not a "sack" and counts against rushing total and not passing total. Also, if a pass play is called but the quarterback starts to run, it can be counted as a run and not a "sack," whether or not the quarterback gets back to the line of scrimmage. In my opinion, NCAA statistics make more sense to me.

You really can't judge WSU"s run game against the Sun Devils due to the fact that ASU blitzes almost every down. You do give up sacks and its hard to block a run game against a blitz from the WSU type offense.
The ASU defense did allow 398 ads passing and 37 points. Falk was 42 out of 53 passing with 3 ads.
Cal runs a similar offense to WSU and the Bears took a totally different approach. They shut down the Bears passing game but gave up a lot of running yards. Much better result.
I look forward to what we do this weekend.
