Yeah IDK man outlook looks worse for a Fresno team that just joined. Couldn't even crack 25K in attendance to host a ranked team that just had 2 players opt out for the rest of the season and then got throttled anyway. I imagine there's a lot more bulldogs disparaging the Fresno staff. I mean 1 yard per carry for FSU? Really? UNLV season high was previously 27 points scored against a FBS opponent. Dude the game was in Las Vegas. I'd say UNLV looks like the chumps if a ranked team couldn't even crack 25K. That game would have sold out in Fresno. If Fresno fans are unwilling to make the 6 hr drive to have a Vegas weekend trip I doubt they are willing to make the complicated trip to Pullman + potentially snowy fall weather.

Whoa... goalposts changed! So, now it's fan travel that matters? I'll give ya a clue... very very few of the former Pac12 teams traveled well. Some had terrible home attendance. Not many fan bases travel that well. Big rivals, bowl games make some difference. But, not a lot of people have the disposable income to travel to every away game. If someone hasn't told you it's not about butts in the stadium seats that has a major influence. But, thru 2023 your squad drew about 18k less fans than Fresno St... and 2k less than lowly UNLV (you know cusz there is no competition in Vegas for the entertainment $). And you had an average capacity of 70%. Your 5-year average would put you in the bottom tier of the MWC. Speaking in terms a Texan might understand... in terms of this thread and your arguments you seem to have a big old hole in your screen door!

Jesus, if we are talking about fans showing up to games, then Cal and Stanford should be in the Big Sky... not the ACC...

Sure let's pretend like all the MWC schedule "draw" games are all the equivalent as Texas State's schedule. Let's see how SDSU and USU would do packing the stadium with the Louisiana - Monroe and the Georgia States of the world in town on a week in and week out basis for the last 10 years. My guess...probably fairly similar to Texas State's turnout. 2023 MW attendance: 8. Utah State, 19,282 (up2,328 per game, +13.7%) 5. San Diego State,24,832 (down 4,393 per game, -15%)

Most won’t. Like most other schools.

For some reason I thought I had read that Texas State had already accepted the Mountain West invite.... But on further googling... they havent? If that is the case lets get them added to the Pac already! In fact lets scoop up North Texas and Rice as well and have a Pac-Tex division! When the ACC implodes we gobble SMU and UTSA will come over eventually as well

Or if you know that offering one will bring down a domino that will make others fall. And you only want one of North Texas/Rice, not both. If you cannot get a big AAC team and you cannot get Air Force, UNLV, or Wyoming, Texas State is probably the best of the rest. That is, unless you are really long on a team like Sacramento State or something. The fact that the Mountain West has offered Texas State without an acceptance makes me think that things are still happening behind the scenes.

Probably need to show some kind of commitment to building a large enough eastern division that those teams don't feel like they are taking the brunt of the travel expenses.

UTSA and TSU are only about 60 miles apart from each other......and already have a bit of rivalry. They would be two of the larger (enrollment-wise) schools in the Pac-12, and they are both respectable R1/R2 very high or high research, PhD granting institutions. Grab them and we have the beginnings of an eastern division, and with schools that are on good trajectories and in fertile recruiting/population areas. TSU has a renovated 30K seat stadium designed for further expansion, UTSA plays in the Alamodome. Also gives us media "product" across several time zones (and into the evening for the east coast). I am hopeful after I heard TSU turned down the MWC - a school with 40K enrollment like that fits better in the Pac-12. Go Beavers!
