No matter who we add, aren’t we the best G5 football conference at this time? Oregon State, Boise State, Washington State, Fresno State are perennially way better than any other G5 conference top four right? Can anyone point out a better G5 conference in football?

We are and it isn't close. But it does matter who we add because we want to maximize our TV dollars. The issue with getting teams to come to the Pac is more about teams hedging their bets that in 4 years (2030) everything collapses again and chaos reigns. That is really what is up with Memphis and Tulane, they are angling for a new ACC invite when it implodes. UNLV has political issues with it's governing body. Who is the best isn't really a question, but there are a lot of questions about the landscape of football and the money involved in moving for what maybe only 4 years. There is a strong school of though OSU/WSU may just be in the Big-12 in 2030 anyways, so why bother? When we leave, there goes a ton of money.

Can anyone point out a better G5 conference in football? 100% correct. The invited schools like Memphis and UNLV have made monumental mistakes staying in woefully inferior conferences of small minded programs that rank far below the current Pac in SOS, Massey, Sagarin, Top 25 appearances, bowl appearances, NCAA tourney appearances, etc. The AAC's membership is a pile of schools that suck. Memphis has performed well by beating bad schools. UNLV was rising but just lost their greedy QB due to NIL issues and elected to stay in the MWC to play perennial powerhouses like UTEP, Hawaii, UNM and Nevada. The current Pac is better and those that snubbed it are blind to what it means to build to the future.

Fans were not happy. He out there talking a little s%#t about the offer being really bad to cover his butt, but it looks like talks to bring Memphis over are back on.

Always great when an AD acts and talks contrary to their fanbase. Case and point here. What a moron.

If by "here," you mean OSU, I think most OSU fans are very happy with what Barnes has done at OSU. At least the ones I talk to and hang with are, as are several of the head coaches I happen to know.

Correct, "here" meant the Memphis AD. As for "here" in Corvallis, Barnes has been mixed bag of success and oopsies.
