Part of me wonders if the AD burned his bridges. Memphis is a good target in a lot of ways, and a good basketball school too. They are pretty far east though, and we know they are good as gone at the first opportunity so it is certainly an uneasy alliance. I think the issue is pretty clearly the want too much money for what we all know is no the long term answer. but more to the point, he more or less lied his ass off in comments made to the media about the first offer. Made statements easily disproven in the offer sheet Boise State made publicly available that even if the offer to Memphis wasn't similar was still impossible for them to be the case. He straight up threw OSU and WSU under the bus and accused us of being greedy and trying to steal all the CFB playoff credits. which is clearly not the case. He literally said "two schools, and you can guess who they are, get all the playoff credits". That is a major accusation to make, and a patently wrong one. Personally, I am not really wanting to deal with a guy like that and a school like that. I'd cut off ties with them focus on another really strong Bball school and secure that minimum 8th other football school from a closer pool. North Texas? snipe out Texas State before the lock down? I am not sure anything is official with the MWC yet, I know there is verbal agreements.

Texas State accepts MWC invite. Doesn't impact us, we are getting Memphis or Tulane, or maybe both. You couldn't be more wrong about today. That twit pic must have been fake news, because I see no one actually reporting that Texas State accepted any offer.... In that case, GET ON IT GLORIA! Get Texas State, North Texas and Rice in the fold TODAY. Having a PAC-TEX >>>> adding a couple eastern teams. Rice is only a few years removed from a 22 YEAR baseball post season streak

If it aint BBQ or Jazz I want nothing to do with Memphis I havent even seen reports of a verbal agreement between MWC and Texas State. All I saw was a photoshopped twitter image

Nevermind y'all look to be right now. Texas State is likely to accept MWC offer because McMurphy on 365 sports was reporting that PAC wasn't targeting Texas State - so maybe a geographically close FCS turd instead.
Congrats on the FCS-PAC add, I guess.

We are only going to add teams that add value to the media package. Rice adds nothing. They are garbage in football and basketball.....the only two sports that matter media wise. The PAC12 is not going to add teams, just to add teams.

Congrats on the FCS-PAC add, I guess. But McMurphy also said that he thought the Pac was doubling back on AAC (per Maroon and Golden notes). But the tweet above said they weren't. So...who knows what?

I am not sure anything is official with the MWC yet, I know there is verbal agreements. That is not what the Memphis AD said. Go back and read what he said. He said OSU/WSU would keep the totality of the CFP Annual Distribution (the $3.6 million) vs the CFP Playoff Distribution. Technically what he said is correct. However, it is disingenuous for two reasons: 1) He's got to know (and I've seen on other boards) that the general public believes this means OSU/WSU are taking all the playoff money forever. 2) The item in question, especially with the rest of the terms in context, clearly means until the new members formally join on board. They're signing terms, they don't want to give away $$$ until everyone is formally locked in, which is going to require a GOR. They did the same thing with every other item - a plan pre-2026, a plan post-2026. More formal documents coming in a couple of weeks.

Maybe the Pac-12 has re-entered the picture. I'm happy to be wrong about Memphis being the 8th football program.

Secret film of Pac-x ADs and presidents reviewing potential new teams for football (Boone and Otter are WSU and OSU) It’s not good to quote a uo filmed movie on a conference realignment thread. Bad juju.

How in all of this has no one made a "walking in Memphis" joke? I mean I haven't either but I can still be disappointed in the collective group

Makes sense. We've have to know how much $ we can bring in before expanding again.
