His agent and his Dad both said this is true. That could be true as well but they hardly qualify as objective sources. UNLV isn't either. You think their going to say that their NIL collective lied? They're probably both right. The thing is, I'm not sure he's good enough to be a P4 starter. We'll see.

He was allegedly promised $100K and only received $3K from NIL. A little different from DJU who at least only sat out the bowl game and didn't quit on his team 4 weeks into the year. And, unlike many on here who believe the media hype, this happens all the time. If one wants to put on the tinfoil "skullcap"... sometime in the first 3-4 games an opponent's booster/collective wants to sabotage a team. Offer some NIL $ to quit/RS within then 1st 4 games. Oh... the endless possibilities of NIL $

Colleto passes better but Sluka is slippery when running.

Here’s UNLV’s version of what happened- Free Agency is the American Way.

Sounds like the NIL Collective wasn't even involved. Sounds like it is purely a he said, he said between the Offensive coordinator promising 100K and Sluka, his agent and his dad.
The Head Coach, tacitly confirms that the OC offered that much by saying he didn't have the authority to offer that much.
The one thing I learned in all this is that at some schools the coach offers a dollar figure and then the kid goes to the collective to get the actual deal. I thought that was against the rules. I figured that the coach behind closed doors went to the collective to tell them how much to offer to whom, and even that I *thought* wasn't a gray area. Nope, totally within rules for the coach to offer money, he and the school just cant be the one that pays it.
A lot of this gets solved by allowing the schools to contract the players directly and skip the whole collective altogether. The fact that verbal agreements are "allowed" is dumb in the first place. What type of "agent" even allows that? ALWAYS GET IT IN WRITING!
FWIW, according to OLIVE, the beavs never work that way. Coaches never discuss money only tell the kids to go see the collective. The provide the collective with space to meet with the kids during visits. SUpposed 1/3 of the football team gets some amount from the collective and they are trying to get that to 1/2.

You can't get it in writing. That's part of the problem. The player is not eligible to sign an NIL contract with school's collective until they are part of the team, so all of these players are getting verbal offers. This will continue to happen until they change the rules.

The weird thing in all of this is there is crazy big money in LV. If there was NIL during Tarkanians run there would have been 12 guys making $1 Mil per year.
I get the UNLV football program has historical sucked, but it's on the rise and Vegas loves a winner. Sounds like they need better hand greasers in the ADs office

My first wife's first husband (that sounds weird) was a big dog in LV. For instance, when we saw the movie "Casino" she said stuff like Spilotro wasn't that bad and that Geri McGee was very nice but generally high. Anyway, she loved going to Rebel games and her husband along with others made sure the players had cash and cars.

Tark had an expression “getting vaned “. Back before the NIL world Tark would say if you offered a recruit a new car and he didn’t sign, some other school had offered a van. So you got vaned
