Holy Cross to UNLV to ?. The guy is (was) 21 for 47 at unlv. Good lord what desperate program is going to pick him up? Not to mention, what happens down the line if he gets hurt and needs a RS year to heal? Sorry kid, you blew your redshirt on a NIL dispute. Guess you're SOL. How much money are we even talking about here? It can't be that much. Seems like the kind of thing you would address at the end of the year, not mid season.

Without knowing the details, it just seems to be another kid making a rash decision. It's a sign of the times. I would argue that each new generation is more self absorbed than the previous. It's all about social media likes. It's about YOU being comfortable. It's never about self sacrifice for a bigger picture. Take what's yours, and don't worry about anything else.

WOW! Crazy. Not sure who this is a worse look for , UNLV, Matt Sluka, or the NCAA, smfh It's a timeless Las Vegas lesson for Sluka. No one leaves Vegas with as much money as they had anticipated.

Sad that this what it's come to. And it's happening so fast too! Not sure where this "me first, second, and last" attitude is coming from, social media? Wherever, it blows my mind how fast our culture has turned to schitt.

You know what would help stop all of this? Contracts...employees and contracts.
Even though it's inevitable, it still feels just wrong for college football.

If I was a teammate I'd be one pissed dude, but maybe that's old school. They might be happy for him. Hard to tell these days. Dedication is a long word with lots of syllables. A far cry from a Dr. Gulbranson, who has had every reason to leave after winning MVP in the Las Vegas Bowl. If he transfers (Sluka) and gets an NIL deal, he has unfortunately a lot of company. Sounds a lot like Martinez.

You know what would help stop all of this? Contracts...employees and contracts. Even though it's inevitable, it still feels just wrong for college football. Tying in with this, we had a discussion at our tailgater last Saturday. The idea I proposed is a recruit has two choices - either a scholarship athlete or a contract athlete. You have to decide. All can start as scholarship athletes, but once you decide to convert to a contract athlete, you cannot go back. You are then entitled to NIL money, but now you are an employee of the college, and as such, are compelled to claim NIL money, tuition, books, room, board, etc. as taxable income.
It would be a great object lesson for these kids on how the real world works, and would prepare any athletes making it to the next level, helping them to make better decisions with their money. IMHO. And yes, some will regret making the jump from scholarship to contract. And you know what, as a long time fan and supporter? I really do not give a flying f*ck at that point. Maybe you should have considered more carefully your choices - as in life.

He was allegedly promised $100K and only received $3K from NIL.
A little different from DJU who at least only sat out the bowl game and didn't quit on his team 4 weeks into the year.

I know everyone is drooling over getting UNLV into the Pac, but let's be honest, it's purely about the Vegas market. UNLV is not a good football school, and never has been. It's all a mirage..... Well, we can't get the Mirage with UNLV. Maybe the Hard Rock or Bellagio's?

Here’s UNLV’s version of what happened- I wouldn't doubt this one bit. Let's see where he ends up, if it's a P4 school that needs a QB next year you know UNLV isn't lying. There's a great clip out there of the Miami of Ohio coach saying Alabama simply bought his Groza-caliber placekicker.
