Feels like the right move for sure. Our primary targets for ACC are Cal, Furd and SMU. Cal seems perfectly happy scheduling games with us to avoid travel. Furd is always going to be a long shot. SMU would be nice but it's not a massive slam dunk to land them.
If they do fall apart leave the door open by keeping the conference in the 8-10 range.

Except that no one has said the rest of the ACC has agreed to this, yet.
If they were to give FSU / Clemson more money, someone has to give up money to get there. Which other school is giving up their share?
I wonder if they go to performance based revenue enhancement, in which case FSU would have to publicly apologize to all of the other ACC schools and give them money!
But, if you go read messages from their users, they insist because they bring more eyeballs, they deserve more money.
I'm beginning to wonder if a super league is just a first step where each school individually negotiates media rights deals.

I'm beginning to wonder if a super league is just a first step where each school individually negotiates media rights deals. The thing of this all is that the Pac-10 was doing weighted payments before. You make money based on how much money you bring in. You keep what you kill. Want to schedule Little Sisters of the Poor? Go ahead, the conference will be paying you exactly $0 for that. One of the huge Pac-12 missteps that is almost never discussed was to get rid of weighted payments. If Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington did not make money, they have to go elsewhere. Capitalism. Rewarding teams that can draw eyes to TVs. Rewarding teams that schedule marquee games year in and year out. That is the key to long-term success. Otherwise, we just wind up back here again in six years. The other thing that still makes me mad, as well, is that Oregon State was at the top half of teams making money in the old Pac-10 model, because Mike Riley would schedule aggressively. Oregon State actually took a proportional pay-cut to secure the Pac-12 deal.

I'll help you start it: But they were all of them deceived, for another superconference was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord ESPN forged, in secret, a Master conference to control all others. And into this conference he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all football. One Conference to rule them all. One by one, the Free Lands of Middle-Earth fell to the power... Sorry, I've been reading Tolkien again 😄

But my nerddom was playing Strat-O-Matic baseball for hours at a time in the 1970's. I've thought about buying a season again so I could have a Conforto, Kwan, Boyd, Larnach, Rasmussen, and Rutschman card.
